I dont think I can make the shannonville days 400kms one way for me, I gotta stay close to my CAA 200km tow radius lol, I'll be at the TMP days for sure

 

I'm registered for the June 30th TMP event!

 

I'm 100% sure I am coming this year however, is it 100% mandatory to have rollbars on my convertible? And also say I want to use my coupe, because it is my DD, I do not use a roll cage but will they allow me without one? If they do, I'm registering this weekend probably for May 11th.

 

I may be registering for the May 11th at Shannonville as well. Anyone know which track configuration they will be using?

Eyes on the Prize

I've registered for the May 11th event at SMP, looks like it'll be long/full track.

Cash prizes are huge this year:
$440 for 1st place in group A and in group B
$220 for 2nd place in group A and in group B
$110 for 3rd place in group A and in group B

plus the Mazda contingency prizes:
$150 for highest placed Mazda in group A and in group B
$175 for 2nd highest placed Mazda in group A and in group B
$50 for 3rd highest placed Mazda in group A and in group B

Some Coles Notes for those who haven't done sigma events before (I've done lots)

- You get about 6 hours of test and tune in the morning, followed by the official time attack event in the afternoon
- SRTA uses a professional active-RFID timing system that records your time on a live leaderboard that is displayed throughout the day
- You also will get (on loan) a windshield mounted lap timer to use throughout the day so that you can monitor your lap times live while you are on the track
- A lot of pampering with snacks and drinks
- Helmets mandatory (as they should be)
- Sharing of cars is free and encouraged

Group A cars means any of the following:
1) Your tires have 160 treadwear or lower (R-comps, hankook RS-3's, slicks etc)
2) Your displacement is at least 2950cc NA piston. Multiply by 1.8 for rotary, multiply by 1.5 for turbo. (basically turbo rotary is group A, NA rotary is group B)
3) You did an engine swap to a non-stock engine
Examples: All FD's, Turbo FC's, any civic where you replaced your crappy D16 with a B16

Group B is everything else like non-turbo FC's, RX8's, S2000's, Miatas etc (provided you aren't using fancy tires)

When you're done, your fastest time will be shown on the leaderboard for bragging rights against your friends later. There are currently only leaderboards for Mosport DDT and TMP so the first event will populate the SMP leaderboard

In case the math isn't clear, win either group A or group B and that's a $590 cash prize
2nd place overall but 1st placed Mazda is still $390 payout, insane that you can actually be making money doing grassroots motorsports ^_^

Just figured out that I won't be able to attend on Saturday. I wanted to come out and shake down the car, but no time to finish off the airbox this week and the new front splitter. Plus, I am going to be away all next week in Quebec, so a lot of things still to be done around the house before I can go.

Amazing how fixing the pool heater and planting annuals becomes more urgent than a test day after you are married and have kids, LOL.
