Should I remove the aux port valves?
Should I remove the aux port valves?
I've got 6 port 13b, street ported with rx8 rotational assembly and resultant compression, K&N intake, RB exhaust. I've upgraded the secondary injectors to 550cc. There are other mods to the car but none worth mentioning here as I don't think they would affect the running of the engine per se.
The car since I got it about 4 years ago has always been a fire breather, but I seriously suspect the injector upgrade is massively over-fueling the engine.
Today while maintaining the car I noticed one of my actutators is seizing up and to see what happens I wired them both fully open. In theory, from what I've been told, this extra air should kill my low end torque but increase power in the top end.
I just came back from a test drive and I'd have to say that low-end is about the same, mid-range is better, and top end seems better too... likely due to one actuator open for the first time in a long time. The car seems to spit fire less, so IOW, the gas is burning in the engine where it should be.
If the 550cc injectors are over fueling the engine, wouldn't removing the aux port valves help things all around?

No it would not help the 550's are probably hurting your top end
is the motor running off the stock ecu?
to put it in to perspective even with the stock 440's the its rich up top

I'm not expert but I'm not sure top end is much of a problem... 6 to 8k RPM seems to be where the power kicks you in the seat of the pants.
With all that over-fueling, do you think I could get away with a NOS dry kit?

God no you need a proper tune and at a minimum a Wideband o2 to know where you are at
There's a base model s4 in the boneyard right now... I better go scoop up those 440's before their gone.
I'm just about to roll out the TVR as soon as they sweep up these damned rocks off the road left over from winter.I just did a full body-off chassis restoration... all my own work and elbow grease.
I've got a full thread with hundreds of pics on pistonheads.com, but to give a small sample of the work and attention to detail I've done, check this out:

Yeah, I own a VW as well now.
