S5 diff problems (noise)

Hi,

I need to repair my s5 diff as the bearings are starting to go. Would it be worth rebuilding it or should I just look for a replacement?

If anyone has one lying around please let me know.

Thanks,

Neil

You should probably mention whether it's a turbo or na diff, and what corner of the country you're in - shipping a complete diff housing can get pricey, so you'd likely want one nearby.

Sorry I forgot that. It is an NA diff and I'm in the Montreal area.

My diff is really clean and would prefer to keep it, but it it costs 4x the cost to pick up a used one I might go that route instead.

With over 169K miles on it and the original engine (knock on wood) I guess it is time . . .

Has anyone rebuilt their diff before? This is not something I've heard of very often.

Montreal imports Junky Jdm parts and cars all day long and you can't get a used diff?

Jdm diffs are all turbos and they rarely Bring them in as part of the front clip.

I'm not sure if a turbo diff will work with NA half shafts and driveshaft. If I'm wrong it does not bother me but I would suspect turbo diffs are more expensive.

I've got a S4 NA clutch type diff for sale, was told it had less than 100k km's when I got it, locked up great - Would be a nice improvement over the viscous types in s5's for $150
