Welcome! There are tons of fd owners around the gta myself included however, things like insurance you should have tried to sort out before getting an fd. As only Facility will take RHD right now I think..

Yeah, I've heard getting insurance for rhd is a little tough.
Hope it pans out for you.

There are a few of us around. Just hard to get everyone together sometimes

Yea, there isn't really a dedicated forum for RX7 owners in Ontario. And from the looks of it, everyone here is from the US.

Try Hagerty for insurance. They gave me a good price even though my FD is pretty heavily modded.

Welcome! I just got my 1996 FD, I love it. I don't know who you are using to import but I was able to get insurance through a connection my importer had.

https://www.rx7club.com/canadian-for...l-call-935205/

There are a number of guys who attend track days throughout the summer. There is a meet at TMP on June 30. Its a great way to meet people and learn about the cars. Im pretty new and i have learned lots from meeting and chatting with guys at the track.

Good luck Moe

Hagerty will not insure your car, it's too new. You also have to be G licensed for 10 years with no tickets or accidents AND you must have a daily driver that is no more than 7 years old, your RX-7 can not be a backup source of transportation. All licensed drivers in your household must also have their own daily driver and own insurance.

The facility association is the insurer of last resort in Ontario. When you are unable to get insurance anywhere else they will provide you with coverage. Their rates are some of the worst rates in the province.

There is no "company website" for the facility association. In order to get insurance you must speak with either a broker or an agent, this applies for all insurance in Ontario.

Also, something's up with your car. Your dash is from a 92-93, no airbag. From 94-up they had airbags in the passenger side... I'd be worried/careful that your vehicle hasn't been in a crash since it's also been repainted.

Gauge cluster also appears to be 92-93, however I can't see enough of it to be certain.

Hmmmm not sure about the airbag but the clusters were made with silver lining in 98, 2000 and up are white with silver lining. How can you the tell its been repainted? I am starting to worry

I found similar Rx7 same year same type RS-R 1998 and they both didn't have airbags on the passenger side I'll post pics of them later I am on my phone now.

Also this is a 30th anniversary special edition model not sure if they made it different but all of the rs-r don't have airbags on the passenger side

The only part you covered up the last 5 didgets of your VIN will tell you what number yours is for that year.

Just a quick question... So this particular 98 FD is no different from our older 92-94 FD's? A relative of mine in South America has an 98 with airbags, boost cluster, 99 aero, etc. :S

hmm maybe they had airbags in certain countries, but according to the sticker this model was made to in 97-98 as their 30th anniversary edition. I don't they started the 99 spec until year 1999 which included all what you mentioned, maybe you relative modified it or the previous owner did it. but even if it was an older model I am happy with it, still look amazing

Airbags began being installed for 94, only 92-93 didn't get them... It would surprise me greatly that a manufacturer would remove a piece of standard safety equipment for a special edition model.

It would be like my 2010 Mazdaspeed3 not coming with air bags because it's a "special" model.

More will be revealed when you actually get your car.

Unless someone can verify that this is actually vinned in japan as an 98, I do not think the majority of people here will believe is it indeed a 98.

Why I say so is because of what I learned from a previous conversation with Geoff as he said there are tons of loopholes and this could easily be "revinned" to a 98 over here.

Heck there was that guy recently trying to sell his 01 Bathurst here recently even though it showed to be like any other 92-94 FD. So I think you should do a bit more digging on this car because there is clearly something being hidden from you :P
