RX7 Friendly Mechanics Near GTA

I've been out of Canada for a while but now I am back and I want to get my FC out.

It has some steering issues right now. I also want a mechanic to look at the car from top to bottom and issue a proper safety so i feel comfortable driving it again.

So what shops are still around? Preferably near Mississauga/Brampton area if possible.

Thanks guys!

If it has nothing to do with the Engine, then take it to a competent mechanic.
It's when you take it to a "piston guru" that all Hell breaks loose.
After all,you just want to know if the car is safe, mechanically, right?

I'd rather give the business to an rx7 mechanic, or someone who at least appreciates the car and knows about it, than a piston mechanic.

Then hire the tow truck to take it to Mazdee's.

Dave's shop is one of the best. They know these cars better than anyone I've ever met and have built their business and reputation accordingly.

Unfortunately because rotary engines are extremely less common than pistion engines and RX-7's (and 8's to some extent) are not a very common car you're not going to find a knowledgeable rotary mechanic on every corner.

If you want a rotary specific shop, your choices are limited. If you just need a smart mechanic to look at your car, I'm sure there are ones local to you.

Owning an RX7 is not as easy as owning other cars, sometimes you have to take the 100km tow to a shop.

That should be the official rx7 motto! 100km is short when you consider that my car's currently undergoing a ground-up rebuild almost 600km away from me right now. I'm near Ottawa and the car's at ClassicAuto in Hagersville (563km) and I used to get RPM to do some work on my car in the Kitchener/Waterloo area (544km)!

That may make me crazy, but I prefer to put my car into the hands of people I know and trust. If that means going clear across the province, so be it.

Ouch! I hope that wasn't directed to me! My father has been working with Fb's and Fc's for over 20 years now, I have only about 10 years of experience atm with rx7's :P I and my father built plenty motors already and a few Race Fb's and FC's, and we currently race down south hehe
Pnoy7 can vouch my shop for sure! He towed his Fc vert more than a 100 km to my shop a few month ago. I may not be on the list, but we know are stuff!!

I believe his reply was more aimed at misterstyx69 who suggested that if it's not specifically rotary related, just take it to any trusted shop.

Really the only thing different about the car is the engine, and if the engine is not part of the "mechanical problem" then any Licensed mechanic can fix it.
Is the car so Unique that suddenly we need to take it to Mazdee's for a Safety?.
I mean really guys,Come on!
Were you a proficient ROTARY mechanic before you got your car?Did you need to take any special courses to change the brake pads or fuel filter?.No.
That's the "aura" associated with these cars,And frankly it is too highly exaggerated. It's just a car that is powered differently.Everything else is the same.

Sct - not directed at you.

I rarely go to mechanics... so with this car I know I will be going to one for the next few years and would prefer a rotary mechanic, even though I know they are rare

Just a personal preference

Thats a lot of money to be paying someone to work on your RX7! Damn cars need so much attention if you don't have a fat wallet you'd be in the poor house lol.
