which rebuild kit should i get?
I used Atkins, but I think from now on I will use OEM, the Atkins Side seals seemed a little on the short side, so I reused my old ones, the Used ones seemed to be.001" more within spec than the NEW Atkins.
edit: You can save a few bucks by using a Atkins gasket set but still not the quality of OEM. We use OEM apex / side seals and springs / oil control rings and springs /"O" rings only.
don't know if prices/availability is still current, but this is a good thread listing rebuilt kit options:

Heres my experience,
I've used Mazda seals, springs, o-rings ect in a couple builds. They work great, nothing wrong with them at all. I did find that the side seal springs just weren't as "springy" as the Atkins ones. Which is kinda weird because I think Atkins uses OEM side seal springs in thier kits.
Also Mazda only has the corner seals with the rubber plug in them.....when most of the motors I'm building are higher performance motors and Bridge Ports, those rubber plugs would get chewed up real quick and the corner seals could crack. The Atkins kits come standard with solid corner seals, which takes boost and nitrous alot better.
Atkins kits also have the Viton Oil control rings which fit much nicer into the metal rings than OEM ones do. At least in my experience.
Any Performance Engine builder I've ever talked to uses Atkins kits, Judge Ito, BDC, Kevin Landers, and of course me
.
I also like the fact that I can call up Atkins and say "One Master rebuild kit please" and I get just about everything I need to build a shortblock, unlike Mazda where I'd have to order each part individually....

I have a pile of the OEM inner water "o" rings if you need them.
