question from a newbie..

A brief history,

My wife has just (re)joined the ranks of RX7 owners. She had an RX7 in high school and loved it! The car was regretfully sold when she started university.
We have replaced it with a beautiful 1981 RX7 GSL from Atlanta GA. Her new car has been meticulously maintained and has original black paint and red leather interior, both in awesome condition.

My question; the car does not have a front licence plate mount, where can I get one? Is this a dealer item or a wrecking yard/swap meet item? What is involved in attaching the mount to the front bumper? The paint on this car is so nice and the car is so unmolested it seems a shame to have to drill holes to fasten this bracket to the car. Can she get away with not running a front plate? I have a friend with a Saleen Mustang that has no front plate and he is always getting hasseled.

Any help or advice is appreciated, Thank You. Brian.

P.S. We are already making plans to attend the Mazda show on Aug.11 at Toronto Motorsports Park.

Welcome, nice to hear a lady enjoys these cars as well. I'm sure if you posted in classifieds above someone can find a bracket for you.

See you on Aug. 11

they are hard to find but i find that the younger guys seem to get hassled a lot more than the grown ups in terms of police caring where the front plate is. If I were you i would keep looking for one but in the mean times just leave it on the dash sticking up against the front windshield, if your wife ever gets pulled over just tell her to play dumb and tell the bacon patrol that the car didn't come with a plate mount so she didn't see a problem, they will let her off with a warning. Or just fab your own up out of flat stock steel

Sorry I haven't got back to your replies, as I said they are all appreciated. I was at the Barrie Auto swap meet for the weekend and I just got back to my computer.

I'm interested in a used one off either Bass or G-man, I can be reached at brian@gocamaro.com or an easier way is to call me or my wife (Carmela) at 905-584-6192 so we can set something up.
Thank You..Brian.
