Part of the ASN/FIA Canada General Competition Rules is that drivers are supposed to be the owner or have permission to run the car confirmed by the owner, but it's not often checked by busy organizers, especially if the entrant is a day-of-the-event walk-up registration. I think that's mostly supposed to weed out rental cars (which I have seen at events too).
