Power Antenna will not retract

Wondering if anyone has any advice on repairing one of these units in a '85 SE. The antenna is up and will not retract even though I hear the electric motor running upon depressing the radio on/off button.

Would like to repair/replace before some misfit kid takes a notion to twist it into a pretzel.

Thanks for any advice!

The plasticy bit in the antenna itself is broken. Buy a new antenna. See EBAY, and don't pay more than $20.

A new mast assembly from Mazda is around $30 and it's quite simple to replace.

Quick fix..disconnect the antenna mast Motor at the back of the car(connector).I took my Power antenna OFF,and replaced it with a "rubber Ducky" antenna...Little Fuggers around here like to Snap antennas off and Play Zorro with them!
