Plans over winter?
Figured the year round warm weather deprived car enthusiasts have plans for their cars this winter and might wanna share!
Me, i dont even have a RX7 anymore However I am turboing my daily dirver Mazda Protege5 using the parts off of a 03.5 Mazdaspeed Protege. I plan to just do the swap of all the handling and go fast goodies with a couple extras such as a properly plumbed intake, a FMIC, a wideband, stickier tires on the Racing Harts and maybe a few odds and ends depending on my budget. Hope to be tracking and autocrossing the car in the spring once im through school the first thing im buying is a FD again just gotta make due with what I got
Here is my P5
What is the best bang for buck grippy street tire do ya'll think? 215/45/17 im going to start shopping soon

-Install AEM IGN-1A coils and sequential ignition. Probable a waste of money as I already had a autronic 500R amplifier. Although this will be a cleaner simpliar install. Maybe.
-Install H20 kit. Pretty much there just need to install water inector into intercooler and tank. Controller and wiring already run
-Dream about new suspension. Thinking Ground Control coil overs.
-Clean the interior. Clean more of the interior. And clean more of the interior.
-Have Marco "Thewird" tune the adaptronic custom 440D, BNR stage 3 turbo to whatever she can push. Finally after years drive the car.
-make custom air dam for rad, oil cooler and brake ducts.

Plans, nothing to due with any rotaries. FD bundled up for the winter, need lots of work but lately my heart is just not into it.
The List:
All rear bushings and reseat the whole suspension, getting a lot of knocks/clunks in the rear end.
Get down to Marco early spring for a proper tune.
Then drive the **** out of it till it F@#ks up again, and being a FD that won't be long!

Way too much to list here, but I will give top line stuff.
RX7 - Build new lower front splitter for the RX7. Build a new cold air box as I have to get those socks off the trumpets. Change all lubes, reset front wheel bearings, put on new eccentric shaft pulley. RX7 Done.
Cougar#1 - Repair air inlet tube to correct for issues caused by over enthusiastic clamp tightening. Replace 60 mm TB with 75 mm TB. Get computer reflashed with new map if possible. If not swap in SDS or Megasquirt. get Quaife parts back from Joe, measure out all out of spec pieces and get new parts from Quaife. Build new dogbox and put in car. Cougar done.
Cougar #2 - find intermittent dodgy wiring issue, clean up car a ton, put new roof panel on car, set alignment properly, repair wonky rear brake disc issue, clean up appearance. Cougar #2 done.
Team - Prepare all bits and pieces for a couple Canadian Touring Car Championship events this year with the Cougar. Get ready for the 3 GT Superseries Events at TMP and SMP with both Cougars and the RX7. Potentially look at running 3 or 4 CASC GT Challenge races with all 3 cars if sponsorship comes through. If sponsorship comes through, then regraphic all 3 cars.
I'm certain there is more, but that's all I can think of right now. So basically nothing.

All I'm doing this winter is saving money for a sequential gearbox capable of holding the torque for the 20b. After that be broke again but at least the car will have what it needs. Tired of swapping transmissions more often then I change oil (I'm not even kidding lol). I'm working on everyone else's car so that will keep me occupied to not touch my car long enough to save for the gearbox lol.

Reading everyone's list it seems like Marco will be extremely busy through the winter and spring...LOL.
I will be taking my Fd to the my body guy hopefully this weekend for a few front end changes.... and like almost all of you I need to get to Marco as well for minor tune and Dyno.

Change from old turbo/fuel setup to new EFR 8374 IWG... And something different for fuel...
Maybe paint bay/door jams...
Do a bunch of small ****...
I am excited to install my newly acquired CDN rear washer tank as a WM resivour...
Cause .9L jdm tank lasts maybe a week if I'm really really nice on the car... lol

just built my 2jz up(complete rebuild). installed new single turbo, manifold, exhaust, fuel system , aem v2, and about to start her up in a week or so. break in process / tuning begins. debating to keep my 4.3 diff or drop it to a 4.1. new rear subframe bushings about to go in. just got a q45 throttle body placed on my intake will polish up the manifold. welding up the new inter-cooler piping. debating to go to ls1 coils, might go 4 inch piping.
ill make a conservative 620/40 with 94 for now. get some e86 and go for 700+ and hope my tranny holds up . if not t56 mag or v160 and call it a day.

Well after letting the RX-7 sit all year due to it being on half an engine, that itself caused by my own mistake of not replacing a suspected bad fuel injector, the engine was finally disassembled:
And went back together two weeks ago, which at some point will have a video when I get around to editing.
Still plugging away at the Cosmo front suspension. With all the interruptions and waiting for parts, I'm unhappy still working on it 4 months after I started.
