Peripheral Port is in and running
Well its in and running. We put the engine in last Sunday and it went in without a hitch. Took us about 2 hours to hook everything up and crank it to build oil pressure. The only pieces from the other engine were clutch and flywheel assembly, throttle bracket plate and carburetor. We only encountered one problem which can be seen in one of the pictures! (lol) Tuesday the crew assembled for initial fire up. The engine fired on the 1st crank and idled with only 127lbs of oil pressure cold! (lol) Over the next couple of weeks we hope to get to an oval to run the engine in for an hour or so then begin proper track testing.

Rotary Freak
Al, just leave the aircleaner sticking through the hood. I think it looks like a rotary shaker hood and you can be sure that you are getting cold fresh air.
After running it for a while, then put a new scoop on it, but I would still leave the scoop seperate from the hood.
Let it shake baby. Bring back the BOSS!!!!!

Thank you Classic Auto!
I just priced out the R6725-11.5 NGK plugs for the engine. Racing beat sells them for $39.00 each U.S.D.! I thought that was outrageous until I got the Canadian price. $62.00 each!!!!!! I sent an email to NGK Canada asking if they would give some support to the race team on a better price, they replied with sending me 8 plugs at NO COST! LONG LIVE NGK!

They are not sponsoring Pacific Coast Motorsports (formerly Grand Am DP, this year they moved to Champ Car) this year so they must have some of their racing sponsorship money free.
Very cool stuff. I'm quiet curious what it will dyno at. Have you considered doing fuel injection?

Aaron your right, if Mazda were to set it up Im sure it would be flawless! But for us to try and get it right I dont think it would happen. Both guys running P.Ports have given up on fuel injection and gone back to carbs!

Yeah, I agree, Hell Aaron was brave enough to do a cold, first start up video when his rolled out of the garage. Even had his mom on there, he dubbed over where she said "get that thing off the street you stupid bastard, you need insurance", and replaced with "great work son, another beautiful rx7".

On the most basic level, a Megasquirt running off the dizzy is a fairly easy configuration to install and tune. Cheap as well. Replace the carbs with throttle bodies, install a high pressure pump and FPR, then wire in the 'Squirt. Probably no real increase at peak power, but a much better powerband.
