ordering from mazdatrix to toronto
planning on ordering some parts and was wondering if anyone has ordered to toronto and if so what shipping method u used. dont want to get screwed on shipping. thks
I think USPS has the best success rates in terms of lowest brokerage rates. UPS is on the other end of the spectrum with the highest. All the others fall somewhere in between. Personally I will not buy from the US unless the shipper agrees to use USPS. (Unless of course it is an item that is not available elsewhere in which case you'll have to bite the bullet)
Alternatively, ship to a US relative/friend and have them send it over via USPS. Shipping within the US is usually inexpensive.

Ya USPS for sure. I haven't ordered anything from them for a while now, but i think they use FedEX or something. If the parts small enough u can ask them to send it VIA USPS. I had one of them call me up on my cell phone once to ask me if I'd rather have a part mailed using USPS because the shipping costs would be more than the actual part. Awesome guys.
update
I emailed them requesting USPS....got an email back with the tracking number...alll is cool....henry said it was mailed monday...soo how long do you think it will be till I have my short shifter?
do they usually mail it directly to the door or do you have to pick it up somewhere?

If something was to be shipped from the states to Toronto by FedEx, and the person put a value of $0 dollars or less than $20 dollars, would I still get charged extra fees? Is there anyway to get around border fees and such? Cause once it gets across the border all hell breaks loose
USPS becomes Purolator when it gets to Canada.
But there is another option that can save money - but not time.
Many places offer free shipping within the United States via UPS. And some companies (Racing Beat I believe) wont ship with anything else. A few years back UPS bought "Mailboxes ETC." (I think it was that one, may have been another one) and turned them into "UPS Store." Well, any UPS Store will sign for and accept any package sent via UPS, and will hold on to it for you for something like $5 a day.
So, if you live near to a border, you can have the item shipped for free to a closeby UPS store in the states, and drive down to get it. You'll pay the $5 fee, and be on your merry way. Then when you declare it, you'll have to pay the tax, but most parts are duty exempt. So, no shipping costs, no brokerage fees - nothing. It'll just cost you a couple hours and gas money. I did this for a driveshaft from Portland and it worked like a charm.
If you have a UPS Store close by in the states, give them a cal and get all the info.

For the record, I oreder the DTSS eliminator bushing March 31, they arrived today (should have been yesterday, but that is another story) april 8th. Not bad for time, the real kick in the sack was the $38.44 they charged me for brockerage fees that had to be paid to the driver to get the parts. Not sure what the shipping cost me since I haven't got the credit card bill yet.
