Number of 3rd Gens sold in Canada?

Anyone know the number of 3rd gen's sold in Canada. By year would be even better. I have searched but could only find US or North American numbers.

Even a close idea would be great.

i don't think anyone has compiled any official figures. Mazda Canada would know.

US production numbers:
http://alecto.bittwiddlers.com/vehic...-numbers.shtml

the only article i found mention Canadian production numbers stated "Mazda Canada sold only a few hundred a year during its run". i'm assuming it is proportional to the US sales figures...

Somebody should pm Al at Scarboro Mazda. I know that he has the exact numbers somewhere, because he told me when I was talking about trying to find a beaten up one to convert to a race car.

I did a little research with Mazda Canada a few years back and they told me that there were 564 of the 1993 model year sold, 93 of the 1994's and only 25 of the 1995's sold. Since 1978 (early 79 models) 30,961 RX-7's were sold in Canada of all years combined. I have break downs on the individual earlier years.
Regards,
Bryan

How many RX-7's?

This is all the information I was able to get from Mazda
Canada at the time. Mike - the man from customer relations whom I was dealing with searched the archives for this information and got back to me in a couple of weeks with this data. There is no break-down on the various models of RX-7s. Mike was very helpful and patient in putting this together - he is no longer with that department.

So you're mainly concerned to keep the price of your FD artificially inflated by controlling the supply? Whatever. That's great if we want to "see" them all under car covers in garages, waiting for the right moment to throw it in the Barrett-Jackson ring, instead of out on the streets and tracks being properly flogged and enjoyed - which I suspect is already too often the case. 25 or 50 years from now, they'll be genuine collectors items, but meantime, if someone here wants to give one a home, I say why not? In the end, they're just a car, albeit a really great one , so why care if someone else gets an inferior FD cheaper than yours? Besides, if they're truly junk, they'll just become a parts source to help keep existing Canadian FD's on the road. Mazd.a isn't going to stock mechanical and trim parts for these cars forever - or even much longer, likely

I'm sorry if I come off rude, but I really don't have a lot of sympathy for car enthusiasts focused on how much their car might sell for - cars are a money-losing, depreciating indulgence (I avoid the use of the term 'asset' precisely because it should be reserved for things that appreciate in value or generate income). Might as well accept it and enjoy it, any car is a just money pit, unless it's used for work, like a trademan's van (still a money pit, but a write-off and a necessary business expense).

In any case, they certainly are nowhere near as rare as Ferraris - those get sold by the dozens in Canada each year, not the hundreds. And even most Ferraris depreciate steeply, with the exception of truly rare top-of the line cars like the Enzo - today's $160,000 Ferrari will be the 60-90k used Ferrari of 7 to 10 years from now. Canadians, unlike Americans, however, seem uniquely convinced that old cars should appreciate as their mates are retired to the scrap heap - hence why US FD's are often cheaper, even when in comparable condition.
