No more A/I? Were did the blue stuff go?

I went to CTC (Canadain tire) and they no longer sell the blue windsheild washer fluid. Since the car was tuned with this I have two options.

Find another place that sells the same stuff. Or mix it myself. So if option two is the deal where do I get straight methanol and can I use straight tap water?

Go to the paint section, look for "Methyl hydrate" That there be your straight methanol.

Tap water should be fine... solong as you keep an eye on your injector for crudding up. Worst case, pick up some whats-it water that they store beside the antifreeze.

Awesome. So that is the stuff they use in windsheild washer fluid.?

There is no way for me to see about my injector crudding up. I do have a nice expensive filter installed in the line

Thanks,

Didn't nik and I mention that to you when we tuned your car? How can you guarantee even if they continue to make blue windshield washer fluid they didn't change the formula randomly depending on what chemicals/detergents/alcohols they could buy that month?

You spent like 40+ thousands of dollars building your car but you are too lazy source methanol from a chemical industrial supply house and mix it yourself?

The methyl hydrate is 11.99/gal... Go to some car dealership and buy some, they get it by the 54gal drum.

And as for the demineralized water if you have a dehumidifier use the water it pulls out of the air, and you are good to go. It's simple really .

If thats correct pricing then that's actually cheaper than running gas in your car. Works out to about 73cents/liter with tax, and since you burn about double as you would gas, you're into the 1.46$/liter range.

I'll have to check into that, maybe this would change my plans for the car hehehe.
