The guys in Ottawa are total douchebags. Most of them are big talkers that don't even have running cars. Especially this one character with a pearl colored Turbo 2, all he does is talk ****. Thinks he's the Vin Diesel of Ottawa or something...

...good luck with those guys

well i wouldn't consider myself a douche bag haha and i don't know any of the other guys.

My car does run however. I just bought it and i'm doing some work on it. replacing front rotors, brake pads all around, plugs, and air filter for now. a little tough for me since the previous owners didn't seem to take too much care of it. When i took the front rotors off the car last night the whole hub assembly was siezed into the back of the rotor :S. ended up havin to take the rotors and hub assemblies to Canadian Tire and have them cut the rotors off the hubs. everything looks fine but we'll see once i put the hubs and new rotors on tonight if there has been any damage to the bearings or anything due to the heat.

hopefully everything is still good cause the only price i could get for new hub assemblies was $459.37 each CND.

if the hubs themselves are 4 bolt then I have a couple extras. The bearing can be purchased at any local parts store, they are common sizes. If they dont stock them they should be able to get them next day.

Sweet, thanks man...the hubs are 4 bolt pattern.

I have also priced the bearings and seals at Auto Parts Extra:
inner bearings - $27.05 each
outer bearings - $23.19 each
seals - $8.05 each

I'll find out tonight if I need to replace the hubs or not. I think they should be fine but I'll fine out once I start putting everything back together.

How much would you want for a set of those 4 bolt front hubs?

Come by PartSource and get the bearings there. Talk to either Dave (rx_prez) or myself, Frank.

RX7clubmembers get 10% off any instock and some special order things at the store at 1515 Bank St.

Good luck with the car and welcome to the forum. Hope to see you around. Come by the store Saturday for the BBQ!

Turns out the hubs are just fine, but thanks again for the offer rx-prez.

Thanks for the info about the 10% discount at PartSource, I'll be sure to keep that in mind next time I need parts.

I'll try and make it to the bbq on Saturday but not sure if the car will be back together by then. When I put the new front rotors and brake pads on last night it seemed like things were too tight and the pads were grabbing even when I wasn't hitting the brakes...almost like the calipers weren't releasing or something. We ended up taking the caliper and pads off again and noticed the piston in the caliper was coated with rust so we took it apart and are having a hard time getting it back in. Unfortunatley I won't get another chance to get back to it untill saturday morning.

If there is enough rust on the pistons of the calipers to make them stick, then don't put them back on the car - they are scrap. Pick up a set of remanufactured calipers for the car, or buy some used ones in good shape - they should be easy to find on the forum. I'm sure someone in Ottawa has 'em.

Trying to reuse your calipers will do nothing but give you a headache - seriously. For the cost and time, rebuilding them your self is a pain too. Most places like NAPA or Partsource will sell rebuilt ones fairly inexpensively. Just give them your old ones and some cash, and they will give you shiney rebuilt ones. Once you put them in, bleed the entire system and you are golden.

If you don't have one yet, invest in a Haynes Manual!

I might have some old 1 piston calipers you could try to. Not sure what kind of condition they are in I'd have to find them first.

Awesome!

I haven't got time to get back to working on the car until tomorrow morning, but i think that now that we have all the rust off the piston and the rest of the caliper cleaned up it should be good. I just have to set the piston back in place. But I will definatley keep you in mind if i can't get them to work after the clean up.

Around 10 am, I know it will go until at least 4pm.

People are more then welcome to bring their cars and show them off.

Scatta, get a buddy to drive you. This way you can meet some of the ottawa guys and get much needed parts.
