New MX-5
Hey, anyone else see the new MX-5 Miata?
Opinions?
(check it out at Mazda.ca)
Anyone notice they're emphesiszing the MX-5 part of the name?
Personally I was expecting a much stronger 5-point grille to match the rest of the family...
Notice the indent on the hood? Similar to the rotor shaped one on the RX-8, but without actually being rotor shaped....

Ya, some of us seen the new one in the flesh at the MOM meet this year.
The warranty manager of Mazda Canada had brought one down to the meet.
The new one has a nice wide stance. but the fenders scream rx8 and the interior seem plasticy.
I don't care for the grill treatment and the rear lights too much. It may grow on me, but right now I don't really like it. The car gives off that "bubbly" look rather then the low slung mean aggressive stance it had w/the generation just before it.

Go Hard....or Go Home
We have one at the dealership! I agree with everything you both said it doesnt have the mean look of a 2001-2005 with a factory bodykit..............but..............wow its faster and drives better than the 2005 Mazdaspeed Miata!

Drove a new 06' loaded Special edition in comparision to my 05' Sport package and it was quite a difference. Definetly a new level of Miata........erm, I mean MX-5. I dont care for the exterior looks as much as my coke bottle design but I must say that the interior is pretty sweet. And the Z-top is a neat Idea. Although gaping holes between the top and the sides leave a MAJOR dust trap when driving. Dual exhaust was a nice touch and the new engine is really beefy. My VVT comes on at about 4500RPM, that motor you can't really tell. Lots of low end.

Any way you slice it the Miata is a girls (even older girls, aka MILF) car. Sean must be attracting a lot of the older ladies lately. I know my sister-in-law wants one (she's 59) and my bosses wife has one (she's 55). And that smiley face sut out for a grill, lol, might as well hand a big red plastic tongue out of that thing.
