The car passed the safety inspection today. I now have a 10 day trip permit on it. I'll drive it for a week and then go for the e-test.
The car needs an alignment, and I have to replace the sunroof seal before I wash it.
Luckily I have the seal, so I can do that tonight and clean it up nice!
Now I get to find out all the little knick-knacky things that are wrong with it, and fix them as I go.

I've been driving the car since Wednesday. It's smooth, but for some reason I felt it should be faster.
The only other RX7 I've driven is a modified TII, so it's not fair to compare, but I still felt like it should have more power.
I decided to start doing some general maintenance and tune-up related work. I want to make sure it's in good running condition when I go for an e-test next week.
I had noticed that there was an odd ticking sound at idle, but not being familiar with rotaries, I wasn't too worried about it.
Tonight I decided to change the plugs.
When I got in there I noticed the the wires on the rear set of plugs weren't the same as the wires on the front set of plugs. Hmmm.
I went ahead and changed the plugs. Then I traced the wires to the coils and realized that indeed the rear set of wires were on backwards. I changed them and went for a test drive.
The odd ticking sound is gone, and the car is MUCH faster now. Still not TII fast though...
I don't like picking up someone elses problems or mistakes, the only way to know they are solved is to check everything.
I'm feeling pretty good about the engine. There is a puff of white on startup, but the coolant isn't going down and neither is the oil.
I'm going for a long drive tomorrow to run a tank of 94 octane through it too.

Search the 2nd gen forum for "5th-6th port actuators". They tend to seize and affect power at higher rpm.
Also, you'll make the most power from 87 octane fuel. Dont believe the hype
