I ordered my GoPro already. Just message Kevin Henderson (ZGN) on the other forum. If you have him on facebook you can message him there too. That's how I found out. They are selling for a REALLY good deal!

so convertables are fine with no rollbar or hardtop? That was the main thing I was wondering about.

Thank you very much Wird! I'm FINALLY going to meet you! Hahaha...

I was just at Jimmy's last night, catching up with things. Hopefully the entire family will be there.

Thank you Terrh! Yes, we totally love the video! The video is made by James Won (http://www.jameswon.ca/), an extremely talented fellow who was one of our die-hard participants last year. He's the owner of the blue EK civic hatch in the promo video. He ran mid 1:12's last year with basic mods and a bone stock D16 engine, very impressive stuff. Rumors has it that a K-series engine is going in this year, double the existing hp.

Watch out for this man.

A rollbar/hardtop is highly recommended for your own safety, but it's not a requirement.

I'd rather make our racers aware of the risks than to sugarcoat it. IMHO any track goer should be mentally ready to accept damages/write-offs/rollovers, no matter which track or event. With proper safety equipment, we can avoid adding 'injuries' to that list.

Typically, I'd say that most factory cars come well-equipped with such safety measures, including convertibles. We will be much more concerned if it's a home-built or kit car.

Ian, thank you so much for helping keep the list alive! I think quite a few members from rx8club will come out as well, but it's a little early to predict. I will let you guys know when we receive some pre-registrants from there.

Thank you so much everyone!

This video sold it for me... It does have a 135% wide lense but I think the gopro is a little wider. I think I remember reading 170% somewhere for the gopro.

I also found this video after I bought it. It seems to lag a little for the speed but works more or less. It might just be a signal issue depending on where its mounted for response time. This guy seemed to get lap times working too. I'm not sure if thats a built in feature in the software or custom as its not mentioned on the site.

I have to sit with my seat pushed forward and the back as far as it goes to fit with my helmet on in the stock seat. Not the best ideal seating position. Most aftermarket seats will not sit you any lower if you use stockish rails. You have to custom mount it to the floor. I am still using the stock seat but I move around so much that I get rub marks on my back. Really could use a real racing seat. I would like to try a few seats before I commit to a purchase and usually the ones I see that I would like are unaffordable to me.

On my 10th AE I actually remove 2.5inchs of foam in the seat to sit lower. It works somewhat but is uncomfortable and I still need to move the seat in to a none ideal position to fit. (I am only 6'1")

Professionally. But you can tell by looking at it because the leather actually ends up sort of folding or falling into the void. Really what I wanted was a removable seat padding like a removable pillow. So it was stock looking and feel then you just pull out the seat pad and sit on the button of the seat but I think either it could not be done by the shop or it was to much money... Can't remember.

So this was my video setup last year:

In-car camera: Kodak Zi6 strapped to the rear tower bar
Helmet camera: ContourHD camera taped to my helmet (the exposure settings for some reason were set really low, that's why its really dark, its been fixed since)
GPS Data: was recorded using an old HTC touch phone running race chrono

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTxS1KfhTzc

This year I've picked up a GoPro HD for the in-car, and will be using another GPS device to record the gps data, but still running racechrono. Probably going to skip the helmet view this time.

Secret time attack mod to my 89. Freshly painted by ClassicAuto for that aerodynamic advantage

Took the time to sand and paint all of the bumper trims!

Changed my registration to June 26 after Kensai Racing listed their lapping days and created a conflict (one day after the other) with the May date. Sigma changed my day thankfully.

Got my ContourGPS, will post when I have some testing done on it.

Hello Everyone!

SRTA is very excited to announce that we are now officially sponsored by AiM Sports! This means we will roll out with so many lap timers that we will have enough for everybody!!

Last year, we were haunted by having only a limited number of lap timers. As all past participants know, we had to remove and reinstall lap timers all day as each racer exits and re-enters the track. Thanks to AiM Sports, SRTA 2011 will have a better and improved timing system:

1. Every racer will each receive a lap timer to keep for the entire day! This means no more removing/remounting of lap timers. Your receiver will be placed at a location that works for your particular vehicle, and will stay there for the entire day. Your lap times will be measured consistently without ever skipping a lap!

2. SRTA will introduce a completely new timing system, utilizing barcode scanners and improved programming. No more delays at our control booth!

3. More efficient and streamlined process to allow faster live leaderboard displays, and more monitors!

Check out our new website and video here!

So far, we have a pretty good number of pre-registrants with rotary content on May 22:

1. IAN - White S5 Turbo FC
2. Oregano - White S5 NA FC
3. 13BbackFire - Black NA FC
4. MIBAgentQ - Red FD
5. Howi - Grey FD
6. rxgooch - Blue FB
7. rx8-druggist - White RX-8
8. XXX (handle unknown) - Grey RX-8
9. Mochi - Grey RX-8

I know there will be a few more rotary guys joining us on May 22, but haven't made the time to pre-register yet. So many RX's!!! Really can't wait!!
