Yeah those truck tires are monsters. About 100-150Lbs a piece. I had to throw one in a dumpster once, almost destroyed my back. Sad to see it happen to a 7. I know what you mean by getting flustered and shocked after an accident. I had one with my moms Saturn when I was 17. Myself and another driver both backed out of parking spaces right into each other. Both of us were at fault but I got nervous and worried so I started spouting off about it being all my fault and so on. Even after being told numerous times to never admit fault. All got cleared up with the insurance though. Also I believe anything over $1000 in damage has to be reported. Period. Good luck on the repairs. See who your insurance company uses and check them out before the car goes in.

Very sorry Mark. I can feel your pain! By the way, I'm living in Kitchener now. Hope to meet up with some of the RX-7 crowd here this summer. David.

Thats a shitty situation. At least he admitted it. Get a quality shop to do it, get it back to normal, and most times you can end up getting an entire new paint job and extras... granted not exactly the "legit" route, but its a game..

Get your car fixed up the WAY YOU WANT.

Another little update.. My insurance company sent an appraiser to check out my car. Lucky for me, the guy knows what an RX-7 is, he used to race the older RX's back home in Trinidad & Tobago he says. We chit chatted a bit about the car, and then he says he will be getting in contact with my shop of choice (Joe at Classic Auto) and we'll go from there. So far so good.

Thanks for the well wishes guys. And David, how are you doing? I hope to see more of you with your FD this season!

I work for a quality shop, I've worked for a few. A shop that is willing to start throwing in all these free things for you. Paint the whole car, pay your deductible etc., is not a quality shop. The money that is spent on paying for your "free extras" is coming from somewhere. Could mean body filler to fix panels instead of repairing the panels. I've seen that a lot, looks good for 3 months intil it sinks. I know everyone has seen the (most obvious silver) car with the door that is darker/lighter than the rest of the car. That there was your blend time instead of your deductible. They clear coat peeling off because a handle was taped instead of being removed. Save money there so that pays for your blend. It doesn't work. If you want to scam an insurance company then good luck. I've seen people go to jail for insurance scams. Quality shops will not risk it. The most expensive thing about a car is the body. You can buy a car with blown motor, blown tranny needing tires and axles with a beautiful body and spend what? Say $2500 for engine, $1500 tranny, $1500 tires and say $650 on axles just for aguments sake about $6150 all that work done. Depending on the shop, a brand new car can cost $2500 - $10,000 just to lay paint. That is no scratches, dents, dings at all in the car. No add in Your rust, your dents, your dings etc to fix. Then you want to do some up grades. Body kits etc, that stuff done right takes time. Not they I'll urathne everything on and hope to god it fits. I mean the put on, doesn't fit, I garuntee nothing aftermarket will fit 100%, take off make fit (properly - cut and remould to make fit 100%), paint, polish. All that can be thousands more.

Don't ever cheap out on body work. It's not worth it. It can make cars unsafe.

Nothing in this world is free. Especially in business.

Talking She's fixed!

Hey guys, an update for you. I took the car to Joe at Classic Auto and he took great care of her. They do awesome work over there and Joe's very friendly and helpful!

A couple of after shots.. looks like nothing's happened at all.

This weekend's weather is friggen perfect. I washed, clay bar'd, and waxed the car, and now I'm going out to enjoy this weather with some driving.

What happened to the FD? I haven't been seeing you on Elgin Mills at all, it's been a long time. Maybe I'm just going to work a little late now-a-days, haha.. Anyway, guess your car? Hmmmm.. another FD? I have no idea.
