My Project RX3
Hey Guys
So as some of you know I acquired a 1973 RX3 last year. Its from the original owner and in decent shape for a Canadian car. I'm finally getting some work done on it so Time to start a thread. Here is how I got it last summer:

Up until the last month or so I hadn't worked on it due to a lack of time but I've managed to get the front apart and hopefully have it heading to paint in the next couple months. Just need to figure out how the dash comes out. There is a trick to it I'm sure... just don't know the trick I guess

I have a set or original magnesium minilites. 13x7. Came of an RX4 so i hope the offset works alright. Bought a set of Koni Special D's and plan to lower it 1-2 inches all around.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Since this is a bit of a budget build things wont be going as quick as some projects but I hope to be driving next summer. Hope to have the body done over the summer so the winter can be putting back together, getting the engine in and running and make her ready to go.
Actually no. Haven't seen Carey in a few years. Last I heard he was going to get his p-port up and running but haven't talked to him since.

Still off topic, but Carey bought my GSL-SE, I guess 3 years ago now.
He fixed it up and maybe he was planning on putting his PP engine into that car. He showed me the things he was working on, including some kind of sliding throttle system. Sheesh, time flies.

Looks awesome man. Keep picking away at it, eventually you'll see the light at the end. What are you going to be using to feed that hungry peri-port? I'm throwing the peri-port idea around in my head still as a possible power plant for my R100....

Trots: I have Robert at Rotary Shack make those for me Talked to a lot of shops and felt he was the best for the job
Buggy: Thanks man. I try to go one step at a time but it gets a little overwhelming at times. I'm going to run a modified 48IDA. Not going to be a dyno queen and with the advice I received I figure a 51 would be best but for now the 48 will work fine for what I want to do with it. And i have a 48. Don't want to go spending more $ for another carb.

I love them too... tires are a bitch to find though. It seems they're either hard all seasons or R-comps. Maxxis makes a few I would like to try but they are all not available in Canada and I'm having a hard time finding anywhere in the states to get them from. Want a 205/60/13 but tough to get a hold of.

You even managed to get evilRotor to respond.
The 48IDA should be more than big enough. A 42 may give better driveability.
Do you have any PP pics from the inside? intake ID?
evilrotor - the old girl pulls hard right up to the buzzer - I have not had the heart to rip out her heart.

Does anyone have contact Info for Joe Ferguson? He has 2 engines of mine. He was supposed to build this P-port motor for me but he has not replied to e-mails, pm's, calls to his new work or anything. Joe is the last person I would have called a crook on this forum but unless something comes of this soon, I will be doing just that. Call me if you read this Joe... Last chance.

So things are coming along. Not a whole lot to show for the hours of work but things are falling into place. Stu Trudel is going to come take a look at the car one night next week. Playing around with the idea of a triangulated 4-link using a ford 8.8 rear end. Swap the ring and pinion to a 4.56 and use the mustang LSD and disc brakes. Cheap and lots of parts. Makes sense to me. Picked up an old mazda comp close ratio transmission which will work much better on the p-port.
Car is mostly stripped and trying to decide on a body shop. I'd like to take it to Joe at Classic Auto, but that's just too far for right now. Might even just slap on a black primmer and drive it like that for a year. Save the money and do a real good job when I have a bit healthier bank account. I want to drive her soon!
And maybe another fun pic... Just an idea that's crossed my mind. Need to get some photoshopping done to see if i like it.
