Is my Fuel pump dieing?

Hey guys the car sat for 10 years, when I bought it I swapped in an Fd fuel pump and it was good to go in the last little bit when I got down to 1/4 tank it would start loosing Fuel Pressure it was 42ish psi before now its down to 35 psi and when i rev the motor hard it'll drop to 20 psi I went ahead and changed the main Fuel filter and it still does the same thing,

At this point would it be the pump or the Sock what do you guys think? It drives fine for the first 10 mins or so then it starts Dropping fuel pressure Rpm does not matter engine temp does not matter

Im guess the fuel pump is overheating with 1/4 fuel in the tank and slowing down

Did you have the tank cleaned when you put the new pump in?

You'll have fuel pressure for 10mins until the pump sucks up enough junk from the tank to clog up the fuel pump sock. Leave it sit for an hour and the junk settles away from the sock. Then you'll have fuel pressure again....for 10 mins.

Its uber late and I'm tired....did any of the above make sense lol.

Fml the tank is fucked, I took the pump out and the crap thats in it settled back in where the pick up is and i couldn't get the sender back in, Until i took my big screwdriver and cleared it all out so it could sit back in

I guess I'll have to pump it out and clean the rest out with some heavy duty gloves and lots of rags

Take it to a radiator shop, they can acid clean the insides and get rid of any junk. Just had a 79 tank done for a customer.

You'll never be able to clean the whole inside thoroughly by hand, especially if its so bad you couldnt put the sending unit back in.

You'll constantly be pulling the sending unit out to clean more junk after you thought you've got it all.
