My FD is finally presentable.

Well it's been a hectic spring. My ECU blew the secondary injector drive and I finally had enough with my mismatched headlight covers and bumper. On the bright side I got to meet Marco and Sanjay and I now have a Power FC and some new paint.

I was embarrassed to bring her out in this kind of shape, but here's how she looked on her first outing of the season. Sixrotor swapped the headlight covers out just before I bought the car, sadly they faded faster and differently than the rest of the car, left didn't match right, neither matched the car and the front bumper matched none of the above. Note how dull the paint looks.

And painted!

But that was only half the battle. The upside was that now the front of my car wasn't 4 shades of red, but only two. The downside was the the front of my car was two shades of red. Also as a result of a miscommunication on my end, the hood was prepped for paint, but didn't get painted. It hadn't been sanded but it had be rubbed vigorously with a cotton cloth so it looked about the same. After shamefully bringing my car out to the NSX meet dirty as a pig and covered in swirl marks it was time for my annual restorative polish. The swirl marks were horrible - I decided to do a three stage polish.

Here's the results of about 10 hours of polishing, all done and ready for June 1st!

Looks sexy! Hard to be sure from the pic, but everything seems to match pretty well.

is the rest of the car factory paint? What brand did you spray the front with? Seems to match fairly well!

Wow beautiful! I'm envious of how stock your car is! That polish job looks amazing, I tried to do the same on my car but there are some sections that are just beyond saving (like my front bumper)

Nope, you need to get yourself an NSX, instead.

(Sell it to me! I like it! I want it!)

Yes but it's hard to tell how many parts of the car have been repainted. Plus plastics fade differently than metal, so my spoiler is slightly orange than the rest. As for the brand of paint, you'd have to ask SCT Rota, he did the paintwork.

Thanks man, I work hard at it - it was my original goal to do paint correction on the side, but most people are shocked at the cost of having a car polished. Most gas stations and car washes that offer 'detailing' at half of what I'd have to charge basically just wash your car and vacuum the inside and apply a dressing to the tires and interior plastics.

There are always section that don't polish up well, my rear bumper is a disaster. The curves are hard to navigate and plastics are a little more difficult to polish because they flex more under pressure than metal does, so it's harder to get a nice deep cut.

Hehehee, looks so awesome!!! The amount of time you spend detailing is just crazy dude I am really glad you liked it as now my dad actually went out and bought a new spray gun for only FD's lmfaoo. I have a hard time keeping the lip from scraping hence as I daily it and do everything from deliveries to drivethru's and such but the burn marks are easy to prevent actually. Depending on the type of paint used and duration of exposure to flames, you can practically wipe off the burn marks like what I do after a day of tracking
Make sure you get that plate protector replaced dude

Ummm, why couldn't the light covers and bumper be removed entirely??
It's only 4 bolts holding the bumper in place.
Headlight covers are extremely easy to remove.

Regardless, good to see the car is getting ready for the season.

He needed the car back same day. Paint would be too soft to put covers back on so soon.

Thanks - I totally stole it from Theory, so I give him credit when I can. My wife bought it for me for my birthday last year.

Did he really? What was the issue with the old gun?

I already have the plate protector, just have to put it on.

That was my doing - I was planning on waiting with the car because I had only asked for the light covers to be painted, but one thing led to another.....you know how it goes.
