Must haves for your car?
Hey everyone - I was just trying to remember whats currently kicking around the inside of my daily driver and got to thinking "what things do I always have in my car?". Far as I can figure, in addition to the basics (maps, spare tyre, flashlight, etc), I always have some Kleenex, Purell, and a pair of sunglasses in there.
Basically I'm just curious as to what other guys are riding around with, either in your seven or your daily. And, what do you guys consider MUST haves?

Spare belt. I always have one ever since I lost the air pump belt. I've also always had 4 spark plugs whether they are new or used and still in good shape. They're small enough to keep in the glove box without taking up too much space.

Oil
Coolant
I used to carry a full tool set in my 86 n/a, the 87 t2 is reliable enough to not need it.
Booster cables
The bins in the back really are a plus about our cars.

4.multi head screw driver,or assorted screwdrivers

I forgot. I also keep a multi head screwdriver, one allen key (don't know the size) and a 16mm wrench. Screw driver is for adjusting idle speed and mixture and removing the top of the carb to re jet, and the allen key and wrench are for adjusting the FPR.

Jawohl! But then, so is going even 1 km over the limit, chirping the tires, and driving alongside some kid in a ricer Honda, such that an officer might think you were thinking of racing. You have quite the police state there in Ontario, but for those of us in the wild west... radar detectors are not illegal in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan.
I don't have a detector myself - but I'm thinking about it, after receiving a series of crap radar trap tickets in the last year. Speed limits are fine, if they make sense, but when everyone, including cops in marked cars, blows them because they have no relationship to road design or conditions, it becomes apparent that enforcement is mainly about revenue generation. This in a city that's working on being the murder capital of Canada (per capita), and complains non-stop that more police are needed. Of course, putting more police on radar duty in speed traps helps to generate the revenue they want....
Returning us to our thread topic... I carry a litre of oil in my 7, a flashlight, and a multi-driver. I also usually have a torque wrench with a 21 mm socket for the wheels, and often have 4 wheels with r-comp rubber for autocross or track days. along with a floor jack. Never a spare tire. Sometimes (for out of town track events), a selection of common wrench sizes, especially those needed for making alignment adjustments. A small screw driver and allen key for adjusting shocks and spring perches. A tire gauge.
