Muffler

Hi, I need a muffler for an 87 Rx-7 N/A.
The tail pipe broke off from the muffler (right side).
The rest of the muffler seems good. Has anyone ever had this piece welded back on. If not, where do you recommend to buy a muffler.

Thanks for your help..

Regards

Xtreise

I had repeated breaks in that same general spot when I still had the stock exhaust. It can be welded back together without much fuss. But...

It will most likely be a temporary fix. If the pipe was weak enough to break, it's probably a reflection of the state of the entire pipe between the can and the flange. It's going to break again and not necessarily in the same spot.

The stock setup I used to have broke about 4 times in 3 months before I gave up on patching and replaced it with a single.

The stock cat back is flimsy and weak at the muffler point. Sometimes exhaust shops can weld a new pipe on in that section if the rest of the catback is in fairly okay condition. But 60% of the time, its better to just replace the whole catback. Most guys go single out to save money. Theres nothing wrong with that.
