Talking The Moral: Always talk to Strangers!!

I just have to post this. About two years ago I saw a Green 93 touring pull out of a restaurant in my home town. So me being always up for a drive in my 86 follow them along some country roads. We had a great Drive. Anyway, It turns out they have a cottage near my place and that they keep the car there. So me being the RX guy that I am pull up at the end of their driveway and say hi.(My girlfriend thought I was a complete goofball for talking to complete strangers) So we talk for a few and I half jokingly tell him if he wants to sell it to give me a call. I tell them my number(which they don't write down) and say take care and drive off. Well, today the phone rings at my house at school. Its my dad phoning from home. He says "does the name so and so ring a bell?"... I say... "nope"... he says... "they have a cottage here"... I still have no idea what he's talking about...so he says "they have a Green 3rd Gen"... now bells are going off in my head..."they want to sell it so they called to see if you want it"... I hit the roof...I can not beleive it!! Im definatly gonna be calling them back tomorrow!!. The Bad news is I've just spend all my money on school and have no more...good news is I'm graduating in a few weeks and what a Grad present this would be for myself!!:d Im not getting my hopes up...by man...almost sounds like its meant to be....stay tuned

That would be sweet =D

My buddy (phr00t) brought over his newly purchased FC last summer, and we had both of ours parked on the driveway side by side (no cruising, I was only 15 at the time ) talking rotary when we saw an S4 Turbo drive up the street (cul-de-sac); the guy was wearing a Pangapolous hat. After he had delivered pizza, he drove back down and pulled up to my driveway and the three of us briefly chatted. I can't say he's ever called me to sell me something, but it was still fun meeting someone randomly none the less

I said it before, I say it again, I think rotary owners are some of the most friendly car owners out there =D

That's what's wrong with this country... People too afraid to talk to others! The "don't talk to strangers" rule your parents told you is only for when you were a kid, unable to take care of yourself

Similar thing happened to me when I left my business card on a car on my street with a note "if you ever think of selling"... Turns out the owner was thinking of selling and called!

Talking to strangers is great but just try to make sure they are not "strange".

But the problem is that most strangers you approach will think you are "strange" for approaching.

Creating a "strange" viscious cycle.

I live in Brampton, I talk to strangers all the time, you know what they say, a stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet...=) ahah, but seriously half the time people don't take me seriously when I approach them about their cars probably thinking "who the hell is this kid, he probably doesn't know what the hell he's talking about"

Ive actually had problems talking to strangers , I was dropping my gfs dad off to pick up his BMW from maintence , and some guy from the NW of the city followed me home to SW(30min drive) , he pulled up ON MY DRIVE and started asking me about the car and took a look at it , and then took a look at my STi , so I told him about it yada yada , then he had seat in my car , look at my stereo system (DVD screen at the time) and then said cool car and went off.
I and my friends have now caught him 5 times snooping around my house at odd hours. Once he thought I wasnt around my car , when in fact i had just stepped out of the car and was going around the bush blocking the door , he was getting out of the car with his friends to snoop around , when i came and popped my head around , they then drove off a bit and stopped , i questioned him and he made some stupid excuse that his friend wanted to see it ... So i bought the best damn car alarm I could find and park it in the garage the majority of the time.

Strangers have the best candy.

Hey, if they are driving a rotary, they aren't all that strange are they? I have got numerous sources for car parts from either being approached - or approaching strangers.

I also got pepper sprayed. j/k

I talk to strangers all the time. They're called customers
Seriously, sometimes some of them are friendlier, and you end up having a chat, and learn stuff from them, or generate opportunities.
It's cool.
But, yeah, I wouldn't let someone I don't know follow me home and know where I park my car and ****... there are just way too many people that don't give a **** how hard you worked to get your own ****, and will steal/vandalize it.

Talking to strangers in a client/customer environment is a bit different than talking to a random person - but point taken.

And then tell them about the car, too.... If I knew someone was following me, I'd drive to a mall or a cop shop or something... If someone followed to my driveway, I'd drop something off in the mailbox and leave, pretending I didn't live there... Because that would definitely freak me out! Heard too many stories... A lot of car thefts aren't randomly chosen cars, but cars they knew where to find.

If its a fellow rotary, following doesn't bother me, but if its some other random car then I'd be more worried. Especially with a nice car like a 3rd Gen!!

coming back from Niagara meet last year, i pulled into a Tim Hortons, and this red FC comes pulling in behind me. i didn't notice at all, but aparently he spotted me a few kilometers back and followed me. seemed like a cool guy, and we talked a bit about our cars. it was wierd because it was pretty much middle of nowhere, lol...
