Why is the RX7 paired up with the RX8 at this meet? Am I misreading this?

Don't worry Mazdabation, I'll take that trophy off your hands...

I'm kinda curious to see why they joined the RX-7 with the RX-8's... I guess not enough people showed up at last years event... That wasn't our fault... Some of us chose to go to Cali for Sevenstock 7! There would have been alot more RX-7's if it weren't for that event...

Doesn't matter, we'll all be coming down this year... Our group is still going to be small... Nothing compared to the amount of Proteges and Mazda3's that will show up!! Those things are everywhere nowadays!!

My vert got 2nd last year to Mazdabation. I am guessing that they are doing this because of the low RX turn out last year. Hopefully the RX Club of Ontario can help rally the troops this year.

Oh don't worry... I'm sure I'll take the trophy this year! lol
Unless of course Jim shows up... Those Volks are huge!! And you know how everyone reacts to big rims! Let alone big Brakes!!!

I'm sure the count will be higher this year...

Hi all, we originally paired up the RX7 to the RX8 because last year's attendance was in the single digits for BOTH combined. It seems possible this might happen again this year due to other club events occurring on the same date/weekend.

I suggest you have someone create a roll call and maintain it within this thread to have an estimate of how many are actually attending MOM05.

For those of you interested, here are my personal photos from last year's Meeting of Mazdas;

You drive a hard bargain wtom... But I see where you're coming from...

I know just from last night, there will be at least 4-5 RX-8's fully committed... And about 4-5 RX-7's.. Still in single digits at this point... It's too early to tell... God knows what can pop up... Especially on the RX-8 side... Different demograph.. LOL

I wont be attending so I am not trying to stir anything up, but I have to dissagree with this. Unfortunatly the RX-7 was not just rolled off the assembly line like most cars attending, Thus there are not as many on the road. The 7 is a very rare and unique whip, one of the originals! Its been 10 years since the lasy came off the assembly line so how could it be judged with anything else. I understand the 8 because of what powers the beasts, but c'mon unless every 7 is as beautifull as mine (that was for you neo), and we know that mine is the best, you cant compare it to a new 2005 8.

If i do recall last year you had the Mazda6 in the same catagory as the mazda3, and what happened there, you guys were pissed, espesially when my friend with the 6 took first place. Im sorry but i think he should have cause he had more work done to it then all the 3's put together. Now there were only 2 mazda6 last year, but this year they have there own category hmmmmmm

Easy fellas, the Protege Club has put on a good event every year without our support. Lets see what we can do this year in terms of numbers to change there view. And I know from last year that the attendees love to see our flagship rides in attendance. I will contact Wtom and see if I can help by providing a sponsor to create separate prizes for the 7s and 8s.

Well the only way to solve this is to show our strength in numbers. I've been to past "Meeting of Mazda" meets and it is pretty well organized and large turnouts. It's not just about cars but about the people. We are relatively a small group. This is a fun meet for those who want to get to know other clubs.

Putting RX7's and RX8's in the same category would be almost like putting the original Beetle and the New Beetle in the same category...

EvilRotor is just saying it's silly because he wouldn't win

Having been a car show junkie from way back and entering Seedorama and Performance World a few times (winning my class twice), you realize after a while its all about a good showing. Depending on the organizer, the grouping sometimes make no sense what-so-ever. Look at vintage racing, the cars must be prior to 1969 or something like that. The only problem is that each year, the eligibility doesnt change! Last year was 69 or older, this year is 69 or older, next year will be 69 or older! Dont worry about that class, just make sure there are lots of RX-7's to choose from! Make sure we have double the 7's to 8's. Most of the 8's will be stock with some bolt on crap. Last year the judging was done by the competitors not judges, which will help you! I am probably going to go to the show on the Saturday and race Sunday only, instead of racing the whole weekend. It would be nice to be a part of a large group of RX-7's instead of like last year where I was basically by myself! Please let me know if we are going to have a good showing!

To be honest, I have an 8 and I don't see how an 8 can win any award being paired with the 7. The 8 is only 2 years old and many of us are practically stock. I will show up either way tho

BTW Maybe we should get a nice little Soccer tournament going between the groups. I know bruces mill has the space for it.

Very good,

I can't see why we cannot get a good number of people out to this meet. It is fairly local and sounds like it would be a good time to bring everyone together and show other car clubs what we are about.

As far as meet locations. May I suggest Fairview mall in Scarborough as this is where we meet for the Ottawa meet. I'll see if I can get the RX club to put a bit of organization to this.

Where is stouffville? Reason is because im not going to drive east to scarborough, if we have to come west again towards stouffville (that is if stouffville is west of T.O)

IIRC Stouville is North of Scarborough.

Regardless where everyone else meets up, Bruce's Mill is really close to my home. So I'll meet everyone off the highway. There's a small diner/convience store plaza on Woodbine and Stouffville... Or I can meet everyone at the gas station...
I have to roll into the place with a convoy!
