Mazda Skyactiv technology

I rented a 2012 CX5 a few weeks ago and was pretty impressed with the performance / fuel economy balance of this new engine . Drove well and really was stingy on the fuel.

anyone else try it yet ?

Apparently the 2013 is getting a larger engine. Good move IMO, I heard they lack in the giddy-up department. Although fuel economy is excellent, I have a few friends with skyactiv 3's getting ridiculous gas mileage.

I managed to get 41 MPG on my last road trip to Philadelphia. 2011 Mazda 2.

From enthusiast to fuel miser. This forum is seriously changing. Lol

Yes, I tried the cx5. As far as a little SUV with an auto tranny goes, it's very impressive. Shifting the gears is just like a paddleshft car. Rapid fire and blips the throttle on downshift.
Not too shabby for the first full application of sky active.
Can't wait to see how the new Mazda 6 does.
Shortly after, the new redesigned 3 is going to sell like hot cakes with the design they've got going on.

Hopefully sky active rotary will show us that Mazda is back with style!

Yeah, I can't wait for the 6 either. I've got a 2010 Mazda 6 right now and I'm anxious to see what they can do with the platform. It might be enough to make me trade-up instead of just keeping my car when my payments are done in 2015!

Guaranteed you'll want to trade up. Not to say the old platform wasn't good. With the full application on the new 6 platform (essentially a derivative of the cx5), you're going to be pleasantly surprised. Especially if they debut the Diesel engine in it when it makes it over here

2013 is the first year of the CX5 which came on the market in February 2012. 2014 will have a new 2.5L Skyactiv-G, Twin Turbo Skyactiv-D diesel is also rumoured to be in the 2014 CX5.
2014 is also the year for new Mazda 3, with FULL Skyactiv and 14:1 compression ratio.
New Mazda 6 comes out 2014 as well, which is all new featuring I-stop and regenerative braking and full Skyactiv.

There is currently a 1.3L 4 cylinder Skyactiv in the Euro/JDM market in the 2/Demio. Hopefully we get that as well. It looks as though Skyactiv is a huge hit and we should be seeing a new rotary soon from all the profits!
