Looking for Tires in Ontario.
Looking for Tires in Ontario.
Can anyone recommend a good tire shop in Ontario that they have dealt with and got a good price on a set of 225/50/16? I have used KalTire in the past but wanted to see if anyone had a better price.
I was quoted $800.00 for the Fusion ZRI's and 700.00 for the Falcon FK452's.
Your thoughts or assistance would be appreciated.

Try www.tirerack.com. They ship fast, and prices are pretty cheap, although the exchange rate is a bit of a bitch these days. They have a good selection and now they include the brokerage fees and duties with the shipping cost, so you don't have to pay anymore money when they show up at the door.
I'm about 2 hours north of Toronto in Muskoka. I called Rockey Island about an hour ago and got the best price so far...$600.00 for a set of Yokohama ES100's. Any thoughts on these tires? I don't want to cheap out on tires, but don't want to spend a grand either. Thanks for the advice. I'll give Billy a call and see what he can do.

they're located in vancouver but guarantee a 10 buisness day delivery.
selection is kinda small but they are at very good prices, and no surprise expense when the tires come over the boarder.
I just picked up some falken's for my GF's celica for 680$ shipped.

I'll third or whatever number it is now for Billy, but you might want to look into Sumitomo HRTZ's I think they are up to HRTZ III now, they are VERY inexpesive, but at the same time very good, haven't heard a bad thing about them.

www.discounttiredirect.com If you look up their store on e-bay, you can get pretty good discounts and prices shipped. And, they don't charge for "shipping", but they charge you ahead for the duties/brokerage, so when they get to your door, you never pay squat.
Vulcantire.com is another online tire seller I've heard good things about, but haven't tried myself. Kaltire in my experience has great service, but you do pay for it. If you're looking for good prices, look around for local independent tire shops and auto service/performance shops; I've had very good prices and gotten exactly the tires I wanted from small independents here in Calgary, and I assume that applies elsewhere.
I ended up grabbing a set of ES100 Yokohama for $600.00. I should have them mounted and balanced tomorrow so the car will be ready to stretch its legs for next week! Thanks for the help guys. Hopefully I'll be able to make it to a few of the meets this summer and meet a bunch of you.

$600.00 for a set of Yokohama ES100's is a very good price. They're really nice tires, have a nice turn in response, great feel, the side walls don't seem to roll much, etc. They're a little weaker in the wet than I like. I think I paid $800 six years ago.
$800 for Fuzion ZRis is more than I paid. I think I was closer to $650 several years ago. The Fuzions aren't quite as good as the ES100s, but they're a good tire. The Fuzions are defiantely better in the rain. Ultimately if I had to chose I'd go with the Fuzions because the dry performance is nearly as good as the Yokos, the wet performance is significantly better and they're normally cheaper, unless you're only paying $600!

It's also worth checking out Talon Tire in Quebec - www.talontire.com - and ask for Howard. Good people and good prices. Only GST since they're outside of Ontario.
Does anyone have experience on the Toyo R1R. I would like a tire that will handle the street as well if I am to lazy to drag my track tires I can do some lapping days with.
Thanks,
Ian
