Looking at a 93 rx7 what you think?
I strongly recommend you not to drive it in the winter...... I somehow can sense you are leaning to "just wanting one" more than "loving to have one"...... you got another car to drive in winter, if you really buying this FD, just don't drive it in the winter.
Getting winter tires are pointless, unless u are really going to drive the FD in winter. I am not here to discourage you getting a FD.
Buying an FD is not really that expensive, but it's the time, $ and effort that comes after math....

Like any car, the nicer the car you start with the less money you'll end up having to spend on repairs. Buy the best car you can to start.
To be honest, your best plan is this:
Swallow some pride, take a couple grand and buy a car to drive through the winter - a Honda or Toyota so you wont have to spend a lot on it if it breaks. All winter save more money for the FD fund.
Over the winter do a ton more reading on this site about FD's and what they can cost, and even on the pros and cons of importing them. Come spring / early summer, sell the winter car (you'll likely get all your money back!) add that to the FD fund and you'll have more money than you do now. All that time, the value of FD's may fall a bit more so the money you have will go further. Hell, by June you may have that job you are looking for and have more money again! A winter of driving a mediocrity sedan will let you afford a much nicer FD in the spring - right when you'll want to drive it most. You'll also be much more versed on RX7's and rotaries and more capable of fixing it yourself which will mean your slush fund can be less.
Also another word of warning. As a student I'm assuming you are young... so before you settle on an FD, CALL YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY. These things can cost a LOT to insure when you are young, so be sure to get some quotes before you start shopping - I'd hate for you to fall in love with a car, buy it, then find out the insurance is crazy!

Ok! Agreed... So no FD for me... Fml lol... Ill keep the kia for the winter or buy another **** box till i can save more and get it in the springish time. Ive done lots a research on the car and feel i know a decent amount (not so much about importing tho)... I kno i shouldnt be driving in the winter cause like the snow can get pretty high and dangerous for her... I was just getting too excited cause ive literally been waiting to buy one for years and i didnt think id come across this much funds this early... But yea... EVERYONES RIGHT! And yea im young but they were only quoting me 330 and i pay like 290 for a **** box now so i woulda loved paying the little bit extra for that but yea... Life goes on... Ill still stick around on the site and shoot off questions i cant figure out on my own... Thanks for all the help folks... Have a great day!
Well this is what i was thinking... I would buy it... Or just one right now before winter so i have it... Get winter tires cause id have to drive it sometimes... As id be sharing a winter beater (some shitty kia)... And drive it as little as possible... Once winter ends and its spring ill drive it a daily but have some money saved up from over the winter... Then summer ill be making lots more money(im a student) and would be willing to pay whatever necessary to keep her alive and well! So basically it would have to last me till spring/summer with minimal driving..?
And dont worry about the discouragement.. If its what i need to hear its what i need to hear... Ive just been in love for years and never came close to this much money spare in my hand so i wanted to take advantage of it... If i dont get an FD im gonna have to buy something else and hate my life but if its what you guys think i should do ill probably try my best to go with that... So yea just be honest!

^haha. Driving a FD in winter isn't a big deal once you take off the chin spoiler. It has been done many times and doesn't take much effort. I bought mine a couple years ago and was going to drive in winter UNTIL I decided to save my money. Buying winter tires, more fuel consumption, winter rims, and the high monthly insurance persuaded me to store it. Snow wasn't the deciding factor at all.
Car has been to Florida twice (once to the Florida keys), DGRR in North Carolina twice, and Chicago once. Planned places to visit with the car currently is go to Sevenstock in California one year and possibly ship it one month to Portugal (Just because I have a place to stay and roads there are awesome for speed and cops don't care, driving 160 km/h on the highway I feel like i'm going slow getting passed by people doing 200+ in **** boxes with 1 liter engines. Good mountain roads as well up north and some upscale tracks as well. I know someone that has an FD there too)

I daily mine year round. But then again, we don't get snow here so its not really a huge concern. I am saving up for a daily beater though. Just because I would feel more comfortable with one.
