I've bought on e-bay lots, with no problems. They have a pretty decent security set-up with PayPal (which is owned by e-bay), with free $1000 insurance if you get hosed.
If you're asking about the quality of KYB's in general, I've used the KYB GR-2's on the rear of my '85. I like them, and wouldn't hesitate to reccomend them.
My personal prefrence for shocks and struts is KONI Special, but the KYB GR-2 is the only non-Tokico rear shock available for 1st gens.

I bought my AGX's from shox.com. My advice would be to call them, tell them about the eBay price and see what they can do for you. When I called, I got them to match someone else's price on the AGX, and a different dealer's price on an Eibach Pro-Kit, plus the price of their shipping was excellent.
Regardless of who you buy from, you'll still get charged for customs fees, GST, and possibly PST too, depending on the Province you're in. UPS has the highest fees, so avoid them like the plague.

GR-2's are a lot better than stock (at least for a 1st gen), but they're not as hard as a Tokico Blue.
The Gas-A-Just is much better and stiffer (fom what I've heard), but they don't make them for 1st gens.
The AGX would be my choice of the KYB's as they're adjustable... with an external **** no less... (again, only second hand info as they're not available for 1st gens either).
For the money on aftermarket shocks, I still say go with Koni tho...

I've got the KYB AGX's for my '91 - work well, and pretty easy to adjust - especially the fronts. Backs you have to get on your hands and knees - not bad, just awkward - although on a lowered car could be worse. I've heard the Koni inserts are definitely better, and the Tokicos worse, but the Konis are a lot more expensive, so for the price the AGX's are great value, and show quality engineering and manufacture. The buy it now price on eBay is pretty impressive - the Tire Rack lists them for $506 US, and while I got mine from a Canadian supplier, my price was not much less than the Tire Rack's once shipping and exchange were factored in. Know that shipping to Canada will be considerably more expensive via UPS than US shipping, and they will burn you on brokerage fees (tax gets added too).

The rears aren't too hard to adjust but it's almost impossible to see where you're adjusting it to! I wish they had some sort of tactile indicator on the dial, like a bump or something. But then just saying that made me realise that there's nothing stopping me from adding something like that!

If you want the GR-2's, JC Whitney has them (on sales, too), and they have *excellent* shipping to Canada. Not only are the rates great, but they charge you in advance for taxes, so no surprises at the door.
Also, I've got a 15% off coupon code if you're interested.
