Thanks, old fart.

I rebuilt the carb on the RM. it idles and everything now. Pops massive wheelies in gears 1,2, and 3.

It is funny. All the reviews of the Silverwing say it's slow, but it has 5/6ths the power of my VW, and a total of 9 lbs/hp. That is SERIOUS car territory.

One guy in the group I used to ride with had the plain cx500, which was essentially the silverwing without the fairing and bags. He always complained it was sluggish, but I suspect it is simply a case of depending what you're comparing to. Except for his, the smallest bike in our group was my 750, so sure it was sluggish in comparison. However, that "sluggish" bike would still easily beat any car. Also, that engine is conservatively built - they used a bored and stroked model of it for the Honda 650 Turbo. If you go to look at any, listen for valve clatter, that is one thing I can remember with those bikes.

As was said, I've every bike owner I know come to 3 realizations:

1) Everything else seems slow.
2) Everything else seems a lot safer.
3) Not much on the road makes you giggle as much.

My dad still has his immaculate '79 Honda CBX - 1050cc inline 6. I love the sound of that thing winding through the gears. Too bad he wont let me ride it, because at 250lbs, I'm a liability as a passanger! lol.
