Its Alive!!!!!
Just wanted to update you guys about the status of the #23 Scarboro Mazda car after all of my begging and grovelling after my old engine eat itself up over Victoria Day. After re-doing the intake system (new ported S5 intake)/ the oiling system (new Accusump/ cooler/ pressure regulator/ baffle plate/ tons of Aeroquip)/ the fueling system (new lines/ heatshields), I cranked it over today and the car just kept doing that annoying whirring sound all RX7's make when they dont want to fire. Turned off the fuel pump, took out the plugs and cranked it over to de-flood it, put the plugs back in and tried it again.
The engine started popping then fired. Ran it up to 180 degrees oil and water temperature and got great oil pressure. Idle pressure was 20 psi, no leaks!!!
We are going to be out this weekend at Mosport running in the Touring GT race. Just wanted to say thanks to JsansRX7 (his old motor), RacingJason (for letting me know that the motor was available), Coldfire (for letting me have the motor after he had first dibs), Dave Salt for helping me pull and install the motor, Feds (for risking his life crawling under the car while the motor was being installed and risking his new marriage by staying over too late, and Kristen for letting him speak to me afterwards), 01Racing/ Al Balinsky (for the new oil cooler and deal on gasket set) and Dave Salt again for working with me redoing all of the hoses and tieing up all of the wiring/ fitment problems.
Now just have to install my new splitter, check for leaks, install the puck tank, wash and wax the car, load up and get to the track Saturday at dawn.
I know that it is only my imagination, but the car seems to rev up quicker than my old motor and sounds crisper. Who knows, maybe the S5 intake is noticably better.
Thanks to all who helped.
