The "I'm so sick of winter" thread
Average daytime temps have been 30C below normal here. Last weekend I was being tapped to do some driver training for a local Porsche dealership - was looking forward to getting paid to drive Porsches (ok, mostly ride in the passenger seat and coach). Needless to say, that was cancelled. Time to build a big fire and roast Balzac Billy. Two more weeks to spring my @$$.
, personally I sit between 3 large bodies of water and it's snowed 80-90% of the days since mid October. Monday when I woke up it was -30 with a 40km wind from the north west and another inch of snow not including the drifts off my 8-12 feet snowbanks around my driveway. I hate this winter!
I had about 12" in snow everywhere yesterday and drifts up to 2 feet high. My neighbour went away for March break and the drifts are over their car. I haven't been able to get into the garage since before New Years as I piled the branches from the ice storm in front of the garage and now they are a huge ice and snow mound that I doubt even bullets could get through. It was just getting soft enough to start chipping away, but now.......
I am supposed to be teaching race instructors how to instruct in a month. Doubt it.

Orangeville was suppose to get 2-4 cm, by days end a foot+ with more wherever that NW wind drifted the hell out of it. So do count as in like a lion, out like a lamb being the second week of March. I really doubt it, worst winter since I was a kid!
A life experience...
On March 12 2014, my wife and I were passing thru Tilbury on our way to Windsor, to pick up our daughter at Detroit airport, after March break. We plowed through a half foot of snow for miles, but when we hit a 2 foot drift, we were done, along with dozens of other cars. After waiting 3 hours, we called 911 to get an update from police. We asked if the road was closed or if they could send a tow truck or snow plow. The police said just wait, someone will get to you. Three more hours went by and my wife had to pee. I had tried to shovel many times and was covered in snow. Then it melted and I was soaked to the ***. It was getting dark, but the storm had started to let up. Still no cops, no snow plow and no tow truck. A good Samaritan in a 4x4 truck pulled up beside me and said if you don't want to sleep in your vehicle, come with me now because I'm not coming back tonight. He had been pulling out a half dozen cars all afternoon.
He took us to a Tim Hortons for food and warmth. We called the police again and informed them we abandoned our vehicle. My cousin came and picked us up and we slept at her house. Later that night, the OPP called me to say my car was pulled out and taken to a specific parking lot. The next morning, I went to get my SUV and it wasn't there. I phoned the OPP back and they had no record of my vehicle or about me ever calling them yesterday. Totally useless. My brother-in-law picked me up and we drove around to all the towing companies in the area. After calling the fourth place, we found my Honda, still on the flat bed. The tow trucker was friendly enough, considering he was working all night in the freezing cold. I asked him why he didn't tow people out sooner, like yesterday afternoon? He said the police wouldn't allow anybody down that road. Thanks officer!! You Fu*kHe*d !!
And my daughter? We phoned my wife's sister to arrange transportation with a shuttle bus company. Her ride home, which normally should take 2 hours, lasted 7 hours...but that's another story.
At the time, I didn't want to talk about it. My wife is still shook up. But I'm ok now, because today, the snow is gone and I took the cover of my RX7 and she started right up. Awe...therapy.

I was exaggerating - it's been almost 2 weeks since it snowed! lol.
However, that it's not quite two weeks since we had snow is a measure of how long and miserable the winter was here.

Yay. Drove the 7 to work today. Insured and plated just in time for the 16th anniversary of my buying it in a couple days. And probably the latest start to RX7 driving season in all those years.
