Hi everyone!!
I'm pretty excited because I just bought a very important car for me. I've had a few cars in my day.....a '91 NSX, an '03 Vette, a 72 Datsun 240Z (totally restored and sweet!), a '64 Vette Roadster. Holy shit I'm making myself sound old. Anyway, I just bought a '94 Touring Edition with only 31,500kms.! Totally stock with even it's original rubber! That must mean that it hasn't been totally abused in it's first 11 years of life. It's even a Western Canadian car, initially sold out of Kelowna. It has the optional chrome BBS wheels. I'm going to try to make it to the May 14th meet at North Glenmore park but I'm not gonna stay after dark. ;) My next step is to get some Reliabilty Mods. done on it. Where do you peeps think is the best place to go here in Calgary. I also have to get new rubber before I take it to the track. Here's some pics. Cheers, Bob |
There's a few of us who are over 40, and at least one who's closer to 50 than he is to 40. :D
The person to talk to about 3rd gen reliability would be Ed. He has a very nice and well-maintained red '93 (or '94?) and is an engineer by trade. Now I have a question for you: You've owned an NSX, which by anybody's standards is one very fine ride. But which of the two (NSX vs. RX7) is the most fun to drive? |
Well I'm 30 and I've got an 88 GXL, but my old man has a nice silver 86 GXL and he's 51...

Nice to know that there are others my age that still appreciate and enjoy cars such as these.
Aviator, there is absolutely no question that the RX-7 is a more fun to drive than an NSX. That's because the NSX is easier to drive fast, way less demanding, way more forgiving. I, however, enjoy driving a car that is a little rough around the edges....more like a go-cart in handling. I think that the 3rd gen. RX-7 is truly the ultimate sports-car. The NSX red-lined so high (as all V-tech engines do) that I was always afraid I would blow the thing up trying to get some torque out of it. The '03 Corvette is the polar opposite, with tons of torque. A corvette is probably the only car I would consider buying with an automatic transmission. 91-94 NSX's are going for between $45K and $60. Perfect '94 RX-7s (like I bought) are going for $30K to $35K. To me it's an absolute NO-BRAINER; buy the RX-7 and use the rest of the money for a winter car. Of course, that being said, I'll have to watch how much I spend on mods. I imagine it's pretty easy to go crazy and bust the bank on those things. Cheers, Bob |
sweet car...
sup it up...and then go for nsx hunting.. |
is that the one that was for sale in canmore? very nice. that interior is creepy clean
come to the rx7 meet with it. make edv jealous :) |
Yep..that the Canmore car.
The inside is like brand new. |
Very nice car. Your car with a few mods will blow away the NSX. There are very many helpfull People here and a ton of info for mods and reliability. Best of luck.

Hey Bob

Here's some pics of my 1972 240Z. I wish I never sold it.

Sweet car ! Will be nice to see some more FDs come to the meet this month!
|
Are you saying the BBS wheels were Mazda issued for the 1994 RX-7? I have heard of BBS wheels for certain RHD only cars, but never for any LHD ones.

Here's a copy of the price list and options that was in the window of the car when it initially sold in Kelowna.
I'm going to try to keep this car as stock as possible with only reliabiltiy mods. to be done. You can see on the sheet that the wheels were optional. |

I sold it for $14,000.00 to one of the Sales Managers of Erickson Nissan in Edmonton in 2003.

Here's a picture of the wheel |
Y'know, I think I know this car. Do you know if the original owner was actually the owner of the dealership in Kelowna?
|
Yes he was and this is the car.
I think he then sold it to a fellow in Red Deer? Then he sold it to a guy in Canmore who I got it from. |
BBS makes great wheels.

The guy in Canmore was asking 35K and I got it for less than that. It came with a set of winter tires and mag rims, both unused. I'm hoping to get to the meet at Glenmore park. |
Nice Doc... Very nice! ;)

Hey, nice find, Doc!
My odometer just went over 100,000 this weekend, but I was hammering thru the twisties at the time, so it's all good. Suspension is still tight, although the clutch and brakes are getting sloppy. Hey, are you gonna get a license plate that says 'CME4DK' ?? lol As far as being the oldest 7 owner, I was born during the International Geophysical Year....you older than that? Please be older. Please. Then Brett will have someone new to pick on. I think he fears Father Time more than the rest of us. |

I dunno when the IG year was but I was born in 1960. .....and no, this is not a mid-life crisis car for me. I don't think..... |
