Ontario SUCKS, shame on anyone who voted friggin' Liberal. I'm ready to put a price on McGuinty's head. In lucky BC the new HST does not apply to gas, home electricity, natural gas, the staple items.

Don't be so sure about that. BC got the "carbon tax" last year on gas, and today gas is $1.168 a liter in Vancouver.

Happy Birthday Canada!

I love this place but the taxes can be a downer and I can see why so many people cross border shop.

At least gas prices haven't shot up to $1.35/L for 87 octane. The best way to save money on gas is to have a non running car like me it's cheap as can be.

What a shrewed bastard....lower like 2% on tax so we think we save alittle then in the end comes up with HST which is way worse then what we had before.....
wait till US has another war and use up all the oil maybe we will see 130 ish on 87 octane...i guess everyone has to spend an extra 300-800 a year on gas

The natives seemed to do alright by protesting the HST... they now don't have to pay HST, AND they are still getting their rebate cheque. I guess we should all have protested.

I definitely don't agree with it, but things could be a lot worse. People who aren't happy with our country haven't seen enough other places they could have been born, open your damn eyes.

WOW! you are ignorant as hell. First of all, they are not an 'ethnic group' this is their land that we STOLE. The us and Canada are nations built upon taking what isn't theirs when it becomes convenient and necessary to do so. I don't wanna get this thread moved to the politics section of the lounge, but all I'm saying is with that statement, I have lost complete respect for you as an individual and from now on anything you say is pretty much worthless to me. k thx bai.

Second of all, the hst is a tax, get over it. Protesting isn't going to change anything. You want to know why gas is so expensive to begin with? It's called supply and demand. You (and me, and all of us!) keep on buying it, so guess what? they keep producing it...and selling it! OMG NO WAY!!!! MIND BLASTING!!! Welcome to capitalism. So if you don't want to pay for gas, don't drive, simple! Did any of you even go to school in Canada? You know the government subsidizes tuition right? Seriously, don't complain. Canada is one of the best places in the world to live, I'm a 1st gen immigrant and I wouldn't wanna be anywhere else in the world...well, maybe on a beach in Ibiza, maybe.

I am well aware of what happened in the past but thanks for trying to give a history lesson nobody asked for.

My issue is the simple fact that the rebate was for people who will be paying the HST. To help ease the transition/buy people out or how ever you choose to view it.

If you are not going to be paying HST, and are except then I do not feel you should be entitled to a rebate.

I guess that makes me ignorant.

Not trying to start any more here Mikal, but I'd say nearly all modern civilizations are based on war, conquering and oppression. Ours may have been one of the most recent developments, but we are far from unique.

I think we should all band together and blame Britain. They started it all... them and the French.

All I'm saying is that HST isn't going to kill anyones wallet, trust. Gas is expensive because they want us to believe we need it, and we buy into that belief. You don't NEED to drive. trust.

Trust?? as in the old GReddy intercoolers?

Guys, as gay as it is, stressing over it isn't going to change anything. Cover your eyes, tell yourself its okay and be done with it. Stress takes more years off peoples' lives then smoking...

Who wants a beer?

Am i the only one who sees something positive from this? the higher the gas price gets, the less people will be able to afford to run their rx-7s, which means more of them will go on sale. And if none wants to buy them due to their gas consumption, we the rx-7 lovers will be able to get them even cheaper Yay for cheap rx-7

On a side note i'm also a 1st gen immigrate to canada, and live in quebec. My greatest joy of going to Ontario was getting gas cheaper
