Well, if you're willing to pay more than you can get a T2 for, then yeah, its worth it.

Or, if its actually in pristine condition, then it might be worth the $5500 he wants. I wouldn't pay that much though.

Prices start at about $2000.

If this one has a straight rust free body, with A1 mechanicals and a prestine interior, then yes, yes, YES.

If you find the liftgate sagging, the engine dirty, rust around the wheel wells, ripped/tired seats, broken missing *****/plastic pieces then heck no.

Well I just payed $6,500 for mine. See pics.
http://homepage.mac.com/ma.henderson/PhotoAlbum20.html

I got it appraised for $7,500. Mine is all originall with 64 k and not a drop of rust. In my opinion value is going to rise on original cars with no rust, since they are getting hard to find.

keep in mind that's in calgary. You're not going to find a TII for $5500 in calgary.

I'd say that dom's post is pretty accurate - if it's MINT and nothing is faded, cracked, bent, fucked, or broken- it's worth that.

if not- walk away! Condition is EVERYTHING to the value of a FB.

This one is fetching a pretty penny. But add on costs of importing, shipping etc, ouch. I did want a silver on maroon leather, but I could not pass up mine.

IMHO black metallic with maroon or grey interior is best, but that's in the eye of the beholder. I just like how the side moldings blend in, not to mention a limo-tinted hatch making the car look more 'solid' and integrated.

FWIW I paid $4,000 for Pamela - that was a GSL-SE so clean you could eat off the engine, a mint-condition interior, both the metal and plexi sunroofs, and quasi-'celebrity car' status. Then I poured another few grand into RB exhaust, antisway bars, Enkei RSE rims, etc. and had it appraised at $19,500.

Go to ebay motors, you can find rust free US cars for a lot less with a lot less mileage on them.

A about 2 years ago, I stumbled across an 85' SE. It was the cleanest, most mint, Original RX-7 I've ever seen. Not a mark on the thing and the engine was clean clean clean, other than the usual fading on the upper intake. The condition blew my mind and it drove even better.

He was asking $5500. I think $5500 would be the absolute maximum you would pay for an SE. Any more and your getting ripped off. I've seen TII's change hands for $5000 around here. Obviously, in less than outstanding condition.

I see your points, but for me since I have owned 5 FB's, to come across one all original with 64k and here in canada with absolutley no rust. I would have paid more, as this is my dream car. I paid $6500 and she is appraised at $7500. It becomes hard to compare prices when the condition of these vehicles varies so much.

Bottom line is that if a car makes you happy, then it is worth it. IMO

In the next 5 to 10 years it is going to become increasingly hard to find mint SE's, as those who have them are probably not going to ever sell them, like me.

2 minutes and I'm out of work and on the road, yahoo!!!!

Thanks for the input, I will probably take a look at it. Does anybody know who it is or are they on the forum. There is another white SE with more KM but 1600 less on the same site I might look at too. The problem with a mint SE is that I wouldn't want to drive it, I am looking more for a driver then a car to look at and take out on sunny days only.

It has not been tampered with. I checked it out before I got it.

in 1988 the first owner baught out the lease 26,000 km.

in 1991 it had 36,000 km when dealer changed muffler.

in 1999 the vehicle was sold from the original owner to his son in law, it had 52,000 km.

in 2004 the vehicle's sticker was renewed it had 56,000 km.

it currently has 64,000 km.

This car was only ever driven on Sunday's by the first owner who was a doctor, he has had a NSX since he sold the SE to his son in Law.

The son in law basically never drove the vehicle.

Also I did a car fax report and I have a relative who is able to get me vehicle information from the ministry that is not available to the public.

In addition to the information contained in the car fax report and the info I gained from my relative. I also have all service records, even paper work for almost every sticker renewel and ownership transfers. Vehicle was leased and baught out in 88 by owner (have paper work for that too).

So no the millage has not been tampered with. This car is all original except for, water pump, tires, muffler and brakes (due to low use).

Talking

Sorry nigel20b, I didn't want to sound like an A hole. I'm just very passionate about my car. I was not 100% convinced of the millage myself until I had checked it out. With 64 k on a 21 year old car at first glance is does sound fishy.

She is mint, and thanks for the compliment.

Adam

My 1980 RX-7 had 44,000kms on the odometer. In 1981, they could surpass the 100,000kms mark without it rolling back.

Funny, we've talked about how both our cars came from Kingston, but mine is the exact colour combo you were loooking for - silver with maroon leather interior.

Guy was asking $6500 for mine with 88,000 original km. I paid $5200. Mine isn't quite as clean as yours and has had some surface rust and a cheap paint job. I think overall, you got the better deal. Mine also has no A/C or power steering which were two option I was really hoping to get.
