I have driven a Z31 300ZX Turbo.....interesting car, but it's shaped as a door wedge, extremely heavy, really slow, overly complex for no reason and not tossable at all, pretty much the opposite of what the original Z was.
All they have to do to make that Z popular is to make drifiting show like Initial D (or F&F for that matter), but featuring the Z31 300ZX Turbo and all the mindless followers will jump on the bandwagon. It worked for the AE86 here, it can work for that Z. How sad would that be?

What's all this obsession with drifting anyway?

See very simple.

the last gen Fairlady was a very well rounded car, and performed quite well. not of the Z cars are really popular as a drift car because:
1) they aren't as cheap as a 240sx to purchase, maintain, and go faster than stock
2) they are touring cars more or less with suspension geometry designed to compensate the harder you try to push it. the last thing it wants to do is get it's back end out.
combine these with the considerable weight (but really not that heavy if we are comparing it with the Supra and the like), and you get something that is more meant for long high speed corners than going sideways with your hand out the window...
