Hi! New guy from B.C!

How do?

I've just rekindled my passion for the RX-7 having had a brief fling with an R32 skyline GT-R, however i've found most skyline owners to be self importaint arrogent ******! Lol! (Myself NOT included of course! Lol!)

So i'm gonna take the plunge and get a third gen RX, my fav of all the gen's!

My question is this! I know that the RX-7 is NOT known for its reliability so baisicly i'm asking is it gonna be in a repair shop every other month!? I've owned various powerfull cars. But never ever a rotery. So i guess im just looking for someone to advise me on the practicality of using an RX-7 as an everyday driver out here in Canada!

Any one who wants to give advice! It will be gratiously recieved!

Thanks guys!

(Oh and sorry about the horendous spelling! Lol)

Welcome to the club!

You should join bcrotary.com, lot of helpful people on that site. The FD can be reliable, but it all depends what your after for power. With the basic bolt ons I ran my FD for 2 years with no problems. I have modified the car in steps, and each one has been an awesome experience.

Welcome,

I would do some research around the forum and look up all of the reliability mods and make sure that you try to do most of them to your car when you get it. If you are willing to keep your car under 300hp you should be able to have it stay fairly reliable. If you live in a area of B.C that gets some cold weather and possibly snow than you will also want to make sure you have a winter beater to drive around. Rotarys are a very fussy engine and you need to make sure that you take care of them. But if you are willing to take the time to learn about them and treat them right you shouldn't have any problems with keeping it as a reliable car.

Having skyline experience myself; Rx-7's are no more or no less reliable if your attentive and take care of your car. Thing I like about RX-7's is theres parts everywhere, and the prices never really change. You pay BIG money for the simplest part on a skyline (like the windscreen). Your wallet doesnt thin as fast.

Welcome to Rotary Land.

Welcome!

If you are going to buy an FD, do yourself a favour and start with a well looked after car. Spend the extra cash for a car that has been maintained properly. Buying an abused or neglected FD will cost you WAY more money in the long run, and give you nothing but headaches. THese things can be reliable, but you need to take good care of them - keep that in mind when you are looking!

Welcome

Three keys to longevity of a rotary engine are:

1) Regular oil changes
2) Regular oil changes
3) Regular oil changes
