Hello all. :)

Hey ppl;

New guy here, (not to rx7's though.) I met a member pn here a few days ago, goes by the name 'Bass' on this site. Seamed like a nice guy, drove a nice truck. Anyway, he was roling through a Timmies drive through and pulled around to talk to me about my car. We talked for a bit, and he told me about this site. I'm hoping he was right, and I wont get flamed TOO bad.. I was in my 85 rx7, which has a rather large cowl hood, (flat black, on a white car) and slightly bigger tires in the rear... Thats right, I stuffed a small block chev in it. And a chev rear axle too, better selection of gear ratios (to suit a V8 powerband)

Now, before anyone gets TOO bent out of shape, I'm not a rotary hater, just a sucker for gobs of low end tourqe and cheep/reliable power. On top of that, the car I did this to is just an old base model that was a little rough when I got it, and had a blown motor. I've driven a turbo'd 2nd gen (and a nice one too, not beat) and it just doesn't compare to the shear raw power of the V8. I know it's quite possible to get masive power from the rotary motor, but it ends up a ways out of my financial range, and it can be difficult to maintain reliability.

Something else I've done though may intrest 1st gen guys, is a home made front brake upgrade, as well as a bolt patern change. It enables me to run ford 4x4.250 pattern wheels, which are easy to come by in quite a few styles (Contour, older mustang, escort, ect) and gives me ford contour front calipers/pads/rotors. On top of being TWICE the size of the original calipers, they are very cheep to put new pads on, and rotors are cheep as well. And let me tell you, they really stop the car! Oh, and it changes to wheel studs pressed in, using lug nuts to hold the wheels on... MUCH easier to change a wheel!

Anyway, I've been looking around the place and it seams like a bunch of decent people, so I hope to hang out for a while. ok, I've said my bit, flame away.

Uh.. heh heh.. What? And as for some pics, I'll see what I can do. Got a few crappy ones from a cell phone camera, but if I can borrow the g/f's digicam, I'll snap a few and post them up. Oh, sorry.. (new here, remember) ..Uh, 'coles notes'?

Do you by chance, happen to drive in the Hamilton area at all? I was headed back to Brampton from Hamilton on the QEW, and I saw what you're describing. (1st gen, black hood, big cowl, larger rear tires). I could have sworn it was you, I even gave your car the twice over, almost gave you the thumbs up, but you decided to hit the gas =(

Nope, wasn't me. I'm up north of Barrie, and untill I find a 5 speed, it's a 'round town' car only. (3 speed auto w/3:73 rear gears SUCKS on the highway!)

Hey, glad you found your way onto the site! You'll find that the vast majority of people on here are a decent bunch who are always willing to help. Yeah...even Nismo Convert can be helpful. Just ignore most of what he says, that's what the rest of us do.
