Yes. There's a heat shield that covers the manifold, one that covers the turbine side of the turbo and another on the stock precat. There's also a large heat shield covering the bottom of the car where the cats are, a small one on the tranny mount, one for each muffler and then a shield for the front of the gas tank. All are important. If the turbo shield is missing, then all the cables and hoses around that area get cooked. The cats also get VERY hot, which will quickly heat up the floor and melt the underside of the carpet if that shield is missing. The tranny shield prevents the mount from being baked by the cats.

I've yet to come up with a satisfactory solution for myself: When I was doing the turbo I got tired of cutting my hands open on the heat shield so I pulled it off. What would you guys suggest that I use as a replacement? The heat wrap is kind of expensive...

snrub, you can make one out of a thick (like 1/8") piece of aluminum...

heat wrap isn't that expensive and it works wonders!

I ran no heatshield for a long time but now I've got them and it helped out a lot!

I'll be picking up some of this to wrap my stuff so if you want we can order it all at the same time...Might save some money.
