Oh yeah a couple of things I forgot, the Race side will be basically run what you brung, so load up your best pistols and come shoot it out. As well, the second and third events in the series will be spectator events held at TMP with between 5,000 and 10,000 spectators. We will also be filming the events and packaging them so that we can post them on a video hosting site so that we all get to see what happened during the races.

So Ian the only one even remotely interested in coming out and Attacking Time????? I know that most of you don't have cars that could do the race portion, but almost everyone here can do the Time Attack portion. This will be at a Pro event so you get to spend a day mixing it up with the pro teams who run CTCC at a track that will be new to most of you, Shannonville Pro Track. Then you can get on the list to do the 2 pro events at TMP later this summer.

I'll be moving to southern ontario this summer, approximately 25 mins away from shannonville. Glad to see someone with an Rx7 posts here.

The question is.. Do I ditch my rare parts and mint interior to go with a full race build or drift build.

Any idea how many open events like this are held in a year ?

If nobody else wants to chime in, I would suggest just leaving your car the way it is and running it like that. There are different classes in Time Attack based on tire type being used, but again they are trying to keep it simple.

Now regarding your other question on other events, there are only 3 of this type event being held this year, but regarding regular Time Attack in the many various series being held all over Ontario, there has to be 30 events you could attend. Many are on the same date on different tracks, but you pick the track and event you want to attend.

Marco, you will need to go to the Facebook page for information. The guys organizing the Time Attack have some basic rules in place, but I don't see why your car should not meet them.

It would be fun to see how quick you go against the rest of them.

I'm more interested in the racing tbh lol. I'm very comfortable with Shannonville to the point of calling it my "home track" hehe. It wouldn't be with my 20b car though if that is what your thinking, the 20b is a 5 lap kinda car before it gets too hot or something breaks. Not to mention it would be out of place amist actual racing cars, would destroy everyone in the straights but be in the way in the corners lol.

We have some very quick cars coming out that really fly on the straights (600 hp GT1 cars), so you may be a bit quicker on the straights, maybe. I see your times at Shannonville, with a 1:54.6 you would have trouble staying up with the quick guys after a lap or two.

For the races, you need to have a cage, proper seat, harnesses, window net, extinguisher, etc...., so I doubt you would be allowed to race. Why don't you come out for the Time Attack and at the very least, be able to compare your times to how fast everyone else is going on that day. It would be fun and we would all be able to run together during the open lapping.

I did that time without 3rd gear... lol

I'm not touching my car until I have a 6 speed sequential tranny bolted to the engine, I'm tired of breaking gearboxes and having to run without 3rd lol.

I'd probably be bringing something a litte less retarded but a lot more fun. Is it still open to non-race-licensed drivers?

Yep, as long as the car is race legal. It will be fun to have you on the grid, especially if its a rotary Miata. That type of car could do seriously well.

I expect that a certain blue rotary Miata, driven well, could finish in the top 5 at this event. I also wouldn't be surprised if, again driven well with good tires, you don't come seriously close to your RX7 time. A Miata on this track is a serious go kart and can dominate just with corner to corner grip and acceleration and braking.

Go for it and I will watch and laugh as you kick some serious butt. Its a great car for Shannonville.

Hi everyone,

The Road Race portion is filling up quickly, but the T/A still has lots of spots. Our race days are designed for beginners, we have tons of experienced talent to help you learn and go faster. Any of our experienced drivers would be happy to spend time with you during the tons of open lapping time to help you along the way. There IS NOT EXTRA CHARGE for this, they are doing it because they want to help you learn.

Ian, counting the minutes in each open lapping session gives me 145 minutes of lapping plus a 30 minute Time Attack. Each session is a different length of time. And when you are off track you can watch the races, walk the pits, hangout with your buds or work on the car.

Pretty full day.

It would be great if you guys could make it out. Like I alluded to in the other thread, if more than 3 RX7 owners show up, I will race the RX7 in the 3rd race and see how fast I can get the car to go around whatever track we will be running, though I hope its Pro Track for all 3 races as long track is fun to drive, to much of the track is spent following people and it doesn't lend itself to great passing zones for much of the track.

Yes counting the minutes it adds up to alot of track time but the question remains. Is it divided in two groups? If not that that is alot of track time. Also the time attack is three laps not 30mins of racing just incase anyone gets confused with the above statement Or am I confused.

Putting a few hours in the car tomorrow increasing the possibility of making it to this event

The open lapping is open for everyone. That means there will be cars that are racing out on track at the same time as the time attack guys. This is why the event is being limited to 30 race cars and 20 time attack cars. Right after the last 20 minute race, there will be a 30 minute session for the time attack competitors and it will be run in the traditional time attack way.

I hope you can get your car finished so that you can come out and join us.

By the way, I just found out that the NA Tires people will be coming up from South America for the race day. I will be putting Sergio Lima in the RX7 for 2 races, maybe 3 and he will be bringing the owner of the company and their top race engineer with him to set up the cars running on the NA Tires. It will be a really cool day.
