GSL SE Turbo (underway)

Pulled my baby out of storage on the weekend & pulled the motor out today getting ready for a turbo swap. Progress would be slow because I work 5 to 6 days a week. Will keep you guys posted.

Tweakit.net mistake

Got my blowthrough plenum from www.tweakit.net & was doing some measurements & found the holes don't line up. If you look at the picture, the plenum measures 70mm across. Now the IDA throttle body measures at 65mm. Very well pissed off about this & I waited 6 weeks for this part. Anyway gotta get it fixed myself. Don't wanna wait another 6 weeks. For those of you that order from Tweakit.net, be aware.

What kinda fuel injection are you running?

If I recall, tweakit offers a whole bunch of sizes for those.

what engine are you swapping in? a 13bt?

you said blow through, so it will be carbed?
any reason you want to go carbed vs. EFI if you are just using a 13bt?

I am running a Perfection Injection 50mm throttle body & Microtech LTX-8s.
I specified exactly the size throttle body I had & they size made a mistake. Oh well.

I bought a ported motor from a fellow member from Florida. If you search Andre Sinclair, all the specs on the motor are there. But it is streetported on the intake & raceported on the exhaust. He dynoed at 396 to the wheels. I am looking for 400 hp to the wheels although he used a slightly bigger turbo than mine. The motor is an older 4 port 13B.

I am going EFI not carbed.

Problems I've found with only 250HP is traction and chassis flex. 400HP would require alot more attention methinks.

What are you going to do to your drivetrain to keep your car in one piece( diff /trans / shaft / etc.). Cool project but I hope you are ready for the extra costs comming your way.

drivetrain

Keeping it stock for now. Just concentrating on the engine right now & getting it running. Keep in mind this is NOT a daily driver but thanks.

Very nice work! That's a very nice plenum.

Once concern though. I think you have going to have a hard time making the car perfectly drivable with that intake setup and the LT-8s. It's taken a long time to get my car with the big throttle body to drive nicely off of idle. However your throttle bodies are below the plenum and thus the vacuum signal is going to be very, very erratic and will shoot to atmospheric when the throttle is cracked. This won't leave you with very much resolution if tuned in speed density mode. You'll likely find yourself switching to Alpha-N (TPS referenced). In that case, the throttles need to be set up with a full range TPS (which presumably, they are).
