that consumption is a little high, but not too bad.
i have an 89 NA, and i average about 9km/L, about 600km per tank. i can get slightly more if it's all highway driving. for continous hard driving consumption can increase up to 7km/L.
things that gave me better fuel mileage:
- making sure car is completely maintained (all fluids and filters, proper timing, TPS adjustment, etc.)
- new exhaust system (RB header, no cat, etc.)
- SAFC tuned with wideband O2 sensor
the biggest effect on fuel consumption i have noticed is how you are driving, a day of flogging on the car is a lot different than going down the highway. even little things like driving technique make a difference.
the second biggest effect is how well your car is maintained and the condition of various internal and external engine components. for example, an engine with low compression and bad injectors will get much worse mileage than one with great compression and injectors.

That's correct. Actually pretty good! On my GSL SE I rarley get above 400 on 55 liters. But I do have a heavy foot!

I just drove my 1984 GSL SE from the GTA area to Ottawa. I got 466 kms with about 50 litres of gas. I was driving "spirited" at times, but then took Highway 7 for a better view and got stuck behind a bunch of cars (probably helped my milage :-)

note that the gas tank size is different from generation and series.
for example, 86-88 FCs are about 60 liters, 89-92 FCs are about 65 liters. and of course the SA/FB as mentioned above is about 50-55 liters. i don't have the exact numbers memorized...

Fb is 55L. Each fill is about 50L when the dumb dumb light comes on.
With all highway the best I have got is about 11.1L per 100K (some of that is stop and go rush hour).
That's 450k on 50L of premium

Actually, I think the SA's were 55L from 81-88 they were 63L I think, then 89-91 are 70L the FD is 76L. Not really important, but I'm a jerk, and I think these are all correct.

yeah you are a jerk.
70L for the S5? yeah probably, i guess there must be more in the tank than i thought when the empty light comes on.
and 76L for the FD, wow i wonder what they were hinting at with a gas tank that big...
oh and for NA owners run the cheapest gas you can find. using premium is just pissing money away...

Not for me. I cranked it over, got no readings, adjusted the gains/trigger, got a solid reading - end of adjustment...
I've heard of people having trouble, but you read of alot of people having problems with their idle when all they need to do is fix the massive f***ing vaccum leak that you hear when the car runs
edit: I know the X's reluctor isn't as robust as the K's reluctor when it comes to reading the signal clearly - but can it be done and work consitently on the E6X? You bet your ***

I get 9-10L/100km (27-30mpg, I still don't like L/100km) on the highway in my na s5. If I keep my speed down - much over 120-25 and it'll drop to 24-25 fast. And I've .put 73L into that 70L tank, no extra squeezing, and I drove to the station, so it can't have been dry - close, perhaps, but not dry

I'll never complain again about my mileage in my FB. I just finished a two week holiday towing a 21 footer with my '02 Frontier. My credit card was frozen at one point because they thought that it was stolen. I was filling up the truck every two hours.
I averaged 30L/100km on premium. Mind you, I didn't exactly drive slow either.

Well that is about what my 87 N/A gets to a tank. It varies all the time due to how I drive it that day or what. Some times I get 500km but usually in the 400 area, proper maintenance should help increase the milage a bit but by how much im not sure. This is my DD car and working at the Airport in Calgary and driving from the far south of the city (around 84 km round trip) gas sure adds up in a hurry!

Anyways, my 85 GSL gets the following. The May consumption is high because I was driving with just the manual choke.

Well...just to put it into perspective, both the truck and the camper were loaded with bikes, luggage, tools, toys and the family. I averaged a speed of 110. Depending on road elevation, wind and traffic consumption obviously varied. My biggest challenge was keeping the auto tranny from letting the supercharger kick-in around 3000 rpm. The truck has a V6 3.3L engine.

Uhm, I was also loaded with family and gear, but I have the Hemi 5.7 litre running regular gas and not the mid grade as recommended. The Ram has a tow mode for the transmission which eliminates top gear and delays shifting on acceleration.
I have a tonneau cover which reduces drag, but a cap would have been better. The break-even though, would be in quite a few thousand kilometres.
Sounds as if the Frontier's limits were being pushed.
