First Race Weekend Pictures

Just found these shots from when I raced a Suzuki Swift GTI for Suzuki Canada and NTN Bearings. The car was tough as nails. Got tagged going into Turn 1 at Mosport and hammered the insid wall knocking a chunk of it down. After the dust settled I started the car back up, did a u-turn and continued in the race.

Ended up finishing the race with my fastest lap after hitting the wall. The car continued on through the whole season, after getting repaired, with my co-driver rolling it in Turn 2 during qualifying for the 24 Hour WC race and kept on going even after I got squished between a Camaro and the wall on the backstraight at Mosport.

What was even cooler was we got a "Cheater" ECU from Suzuki that raised our rpm to 10,500. We could run Mosport with only 2 shifts. Down from 3rd to 2nd for 5 and back up to 3rd as we exited the corner.

It was a great season.

Before the race, Practice on Friday. More hair and 25 lbs lighter on the part of the driver. God this was 14 years ago.

Cool pics!

Looks like you have had some wall kissing fun at Mosport! I have not had the pleasure of going off at Mosport and I don't plan too! It is an amazing track!

Seven Heaven, you and I have something in common. I run a race second gen here and a Cobra R (with a bit more power) out west. I guess we both understand the dynamics of big V8 (tons of nose weight) power oversteer.

Cool beasts.
