FD3S Rear Reflector

Alright, so my JDM car was fully saftied and passed with very little change. Turns out I must have been "let slide" on one circumstance. The Rear reflectors at the rear of the car NEED to be illuminated. Cops in Saskatoon, SK, are pulling over SEVERAL jdm cars and making them switch out reflectors to lights. Couple questions for anyone that has done this.

What lights did you use? and how did you install the wiring. I have taken mine apart and the reflector is glues to a hunk of plastic, no light shows when I shine, so it looks as though I may need a full component. If anyone has advice I would love to get this problem fixed so I do not need another complete inspection.

Maybe it is just a Saskatchewan thing, but it is frustrating. Lots of complaints going to SGI and our police force from the car hobbyists. In 3 days during our annual cruise weekend over 170 vehicle inspection forms were handed out, they went crazy and I was lucky enough not to get pulled over for a random check. None the less trying to fix this ASAP even something temporary so I can finish the driving season before snow and do a more permanent route during the winter break. Really not wanting to get dinged with a 100 dollar vehicle inspection form + have to fix anything. And right now they are being very very picky!

ya lately cops here have been really cracking down on everything, its bad. in june i got pulled over and given a muffler ticket and was told to do an inspection by the MTO. I got there and all I saw was tuner cars. they were doing a project called "ERASE" that was just basiclly just trying to get tuners off the road.

good luck with ur car and hope u find a temp fix.

The side marker reflectors on JDM FD's all have bulb holders molded into them already, the holes are just not cut out.

You need to go and buy four #194 bulb holders and a bit of wire along with some crimp on wire taps. Then unscrew your reflectors and drill out the holes in the back of the reflectors ( I forget the size, but make sure not to hit the inside with the drill bit when it pushes through).

Now trim the little ears off the bulb holders (your holes are round without the slots for the little ears) if you drilled the holes the right size, the bulb holders will push into them tight and not pop out even without the ears on them.

Now tap into your front parking lamp wires and your rear tail light wires with the wire taps.

The whole process is pretty self explanitory when you look at it all and shouldn't take longer than half an hour.
