Exporting to US?

Does or has anyone every went to Canada and bought a motor and brought it back I will be going to Montreal this week and im curious how much if anything will it cost to bring the motor across the boarder. I know they have duty fees and such on certian items I know what the tax rate is there. I just have never brought an item that large across a border and dont know if im going to get stuck at the bridge on the way back. They list things on the net about items under 400 bucks and such but it dosnt say anything about an item over 2000 dollars! Any input on this will help out thanks.

have then make the reciept for a used car part, it should be cheaper. YOu could also have them make it out for less than 400 bucks as well.

Do you know how much the duty fees are for something like that I have tryed calling every trade office I can find and I get no information on any of this. Its really starting to become a pain in the *** lol. But I have never crossed the border before I have been told im in for a treat if I act stupid with the CBP so I would like to get everything straight before I take off.

I think duty usually works out to like 20% of the price you have. just be hounest and say you have somehting to declare, as an engine is quite large. If you do lie, they will tear every bolt off your car, and remove every part from it, leave it on the side, and give you an hour to get rid of it. They do not funguyla around at all. Bring the receipt, as its your only proof of what you paid.
