Earls to Russel fittings Compatability and where to buy.

Anyone know where a good place to purchase lines and fittings around here. Prices seem insane.

Anyhow Performance improvements told me I can mix and match fittings and hoses. IE put Russel hoses on my swivel fit earls fittings. Is this true?
They said all are interchangable. Aeroquip, russel, earls, summit etc etc.

If they are advertised as AN fittings they will be interchangeable. There is a specific military standard that defines the dimensions of an 37° flare fitting.

A lot of the cheaper ones (summit, jegs) are not true AN fittings as they are not manufactured to the mil-spec tolerances and therefore do not comply with the specification. The expensive ones meant for aircraft will be true AN.

JIC fittings (the steel ones you can buy at Princess Auto) are also supposed to be interchangeable. The JIC spec is the same as AN but with looser tolerances.

I got mine from Summit Racing. They get mixed reviews but are relatively cheap. If you really want to cheap out get JIC fittings.

So you are saying I can use russel lines with my earls swivel fit fittings. Tolerances will not be a big deal? I hope the lines don't pop. Oil pressure is at least 100psi.

Didn't know about JIC fittings. Will have to swing by princess auto just to look at them. All of my fittings were earls for fuel and summit racing fittings for the oil.

I have Summit, XRP and Earls (I think, leftovers from another project) mixed with Summit lines on my car. If they are AN they should all fit together fine. If they are some proprietary fitting or hose system then all bets are off.

That said, I do have some teflon hose at my house that does not work with the hose ends I have meant for rubber hose. It's a much smaller outside diameter though.

JIC fittings are used in industry. Not so common on cars. However, if you need an emergency line because one of yours got wrecked:

1/2 in. JIC x 2 ft Hydraulic Hose Assembly | Princess Auto

That will fit in palce of a -8 AN line. While you can buy reusable JIC hose ends it doesn't look like PA sells them. They have a lot of steel NPT or ORB to JIC fittings that can be useful though.

I've used various brands of AN fittings and have had no issues. I've used Jegs, Summit, and Earl's. Try Marcor in Burlington. We are a dealer for them at work. Their prices are pretty competitive and they are fairly close to you. That's where I got all my Earl's lines and fittings from for my oil cooler lines on my TII.

I like to buy a lot of my fittings from Karbelt in Pickering at Brock and Bayly. Karbelt Speed & Custom, Pickering

Prices are better than Performance Improvements and they usually have everything in stock. They even had all the -20 AN fittings I needed.

Try Fragola for your fittings. They are American made, really good quality and really good value. Now in my case I used Earls on the Cougar and Russel for the RX7, however over the years things were switched around and replaced with no issues combining everything from different manufacturers. Even used Princess Auto fittings once when I was at the track and cut an oil line. Its easy peasy, don't over think it.

Call me Ian, I get Russell from a direct supplier. We plumbed the entire fuel system with brand new Russell braided line and proper screw on hose ends. We also plumbed the accusump the same way with all -10 line and fittings.

Nice. Dry Sump. Didn't know you got one. I ended up getting my line from karbelt in pickering. Performance Improvements was $40 more for 10 feet!

Anything AN is interchangeable. Doesn't matter what you use, Russel, Earls, Summit etc. A AN fitting is an AN fitting.

Just make a bulk order from Summit, cheapest you'll ever get up here. Go to Karbelt if you need a last minute fitting since they always have it in stock.

Cant wait till DGRR. I want to have my car at least running by april and I will not install the engine till I have the fuel lines run underneath.

And ya last time I ordered from summit racing. All my stuff was from there.

T-bolts 2" for two are $15 to $20 here. IN the states $3.00 each. WTF. the stores are trying to tell me that its not the same quality though on the T-bolt clamps.

Don't order any fittings that aren't name brand.

earls/russel/aeromotive are all good. Most others are garbage.

Canadian stores always try and say their stuff is higher quality. It's not. It's the same, just 10x more expensive. I had places here try and charge me $100 for ONE -10 180* fitting. Instead of $33 in the states.

I have a US shipping address if you need a few things, I could ship to you - but there might be a 1-2 week turnaround.
