WOW! Thats early......

I am not so sure how that would work to be honest for us Atlantic Canadians...

According to Scientists in Australia we are having an El Nino year and the warm currents of the oceans have moved north, That means a mild winter for us... I hope its true.......

Have booked off vacation already just in case. Looking at cabins now. Let's hope we can get out of the Northeast!

Okay, just to make this a bit easier for me I'm going to start a list of people who are serious about going and want to go in on a cabin together. I need to know numbers so I can look at appropriate cabins. I will take care of booking the cabin and so on. If you are planning on going and booking your own cabin, just leave your name off of this list.

The dollar exchange rate is a killer this year.
Prior years, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013, weren't so bad.

Not going myself at this exchange rate let alone the stock and mutual funds drop. They say it goes back up but gotta love that it takes 10years for it to go back up on a three month drop. Gotta love how the bank still takes MER. Probable just do a cruise in Ontario.

I've basically scrapped the plans for this trip anyway this year. Not enough committed people, exchange rate, etc. I want to go in 2017 for sure though. Start planning! Lol

And who is responsible for this mess???
The Trudeau government??? (the budget will balance itself...)
Or the Obama Administration ??? (why did he have to fix the Yankee buck? I liked it better after Bush screwed up the US economy.)
Barack is making the Loonie look bad.
Oh well, spending your Canadian money in Canada makes sense, at this point.

Bottom might be $0.60 if you're going by history. Dropping in to the $0.50 range would be ridiculous. The lowest that it's been in the last 50 years was during the dot com crash.

The loonie is closely tied to the price of oil, which is $31/barrel at the moment. It's also tied the the strength of Canada's economy and is affected by the US's economy. Oil will probably go lower because the daily excess could double soon (I hope that I'm wrong). Weak oil means a weak Canadian economy, which means BOC will cut interest rates soon (There's been talk of going in to negative interest rates).

The US economy pulled out of the recession, strengthened during Obama's second term, and is now chugging along at a good strength. The Feds raised interest rates lately, which is another good indication of the US economy's strength.

My prediction is that our loonie won't go back up for a very long time and will probably fall much more in 2016. I hope that I'm wrong because this low loonie is costing me mid 5 figures/ year.

In the mean time, I'm buying up good stocks as much as I can while they're dirt cheap.

As of right now, the Atlantic Canada crew are still planning to go. Cheap gas (which is a big portion of it) is helping to offset the added accommodations expenses.

I heard gas is at 50 cent or some ridiculous price per gallon in US ....

It could be a cheap trip if we sleep in the car?

Gas is on average a 1.85 a gallon, we pay 0.85 cent a LITER = 3.4 US gallon =$ 2.89 per US gallon
Get off your *** and go!
It's cheaper than staying home!
P.S

Don't Blame Our Loonie , speculated in global commodities markets

Well the trip might be cheaper but not our monthly expenses here are not. Let alone investments. 2016 and 2017 will be interesting.

Prices for everything in the US has always been far cheaper than here. I've taken too much time off of work to go this year anyway. I have my car apart right now anyway. Hey Rick, time to grow your own celery.

Still have my vacation blocked off - gas is cheap and food is cheap in the states. Even with the difference in the dollar, we'll still likely go. Nova Scotia to Deal Gap.

Last week I flew from Detroit to Tampa. The local unleaded gasoline prices were $1.69 a gallon. According to my calculations, that is $.45 per litre. And $.45 USD is $.62 CAD. That is cheap gas.

And my butt dyno thinks American gas has more kick. Maybe Canadian gas is diluted with antifreeze or something.
