For the time attack do you need a helmet?

 

I suggest you look at their rule book first if this is your first time. You will need more than a helmet.

 

Well in short i take it thats a no. it isn't for me. A friend in his BMW was interested. but form the sound of it helmet, seats, roll cage/interior would be required too.

Do they not have just an open lapping session this day?

The helmet requirements are under 3.2.1
Their minimum helmet requirement is a DOT approval.

Seats/rollcage/interior rules vary between the classes. See the rule book.
