Talking Congratulations to the Scarboro Mazda Team

I just wanted to be the first to congratulate Al Balinsky and the whole Scarboro Mazda Team on their first win and also to be selected as the winner of the BEMC Weekend Champion. It is well deserved and the result of a lot of hard hard work.

On a personal note, it has been a pleasure to listen to Al and watch his growth as a driver and team owner. He works extremely hard at it and I hope he takes a lot of pleasure from this moment. It is surprising that it happened at Mosport, as he is truly great at Shannonville. I thought it would have happened there first.

Just great news. Now I have to bring the pig back out and give him a run for his money before he gets too cocky, LOL.

Congradulations AL. Great to hear this.

Sorry I missed the action. We were busy still trying to get the FD ready for this coming Shannonville event at the end of this month. (Are you going to this event?)

take care,

Ian

Ian, I don't know if you were asking the question of me or Al. I will be out for Shannonville, but not in the way you would think. Nummelin Motorsport Group has come to an agreement with Candy Calder to put her in the #23 RX7 for a few races this year and Shannonville will be the first event.

Candy is just getting used to the car and will be running it in GT5 for the whole weekend. It should be a fun weekend for her. I will be running the car at Mosport in June Combined BARC/SCCA Weekend. You know I have to give Al a run for his money, heh heh. The next event I really want to run the RX7 in is the Fall 3 Hour Sundowner. The car is perfect for this type of event.

I should have the Cougar ready for the rest of the season after some testing dates in June. Who knows I may be running the Cougar in GT3!

As for Al, I think he will be running Shannonville now. Like I said before, he is a rocket at that track and should do very well.

Eric

Indeed congrats again to the Scarboro Mazda team. It was even better having the opportunity to see the event in person. Well worth the 6 hour drive.

Wow guys thanks so much! This was definately a team effort as anyone who races knows you cant do it by yourself. I should say a special thanks to Eric (23 Racer) as he was the one who put me in his car in 2003 and started all this! A lot of guys on this forum have helped us along the way by bailing us out when we desperately needed parts, and you guys definately came to the party!
As for running at Shannonville a lot will depend on what track configuration they decide to run, long track is not a lot of fun in a car that likes to rev high.

Just did an interesting calculation of top speed before braking going into turn.....when we turned 9200 rpm it was 138.42 Mph and when we hit 9400 Rpm it was 141.43. Now I know why it felt fast lol
